Saturday Critters ~ 85 ~

I have watched many a bird build their nest,
but never a squirrel.

I've determined at this point,
that Junior is either  a "Juniorette" who's expecting,
or has a girlfriend that is with child,
I'm not sure which.

But Junior has been busy tearing up the yard...

building that nest.

The yard is a mess...

but Junior seems quite happy with his work!!
Me...not so much!!

Don't ever call a squirrel dumb. Junior did all this without instructions from his parents.

Endearing photos Debbie. I have seen the same activity around here. Sometimes they are rebuilding nests after one of our heavy rains.

LOL! I've never seen a squirrel do that! Are you sure he wasn't just trying to help with the yard work? ;-)

I have never seen this. How fortunate to see this handsome/pretty squirrel at work.

You are not happy, so you won't be a squirrel, forever.

They are soooo cute but can sure be pests...

So cute! I watched one collect grass and moss in our yard a couple of weeks ago.

I've never seen a squirrel build on the ground that way. I usually see them constructing their wood and grass dreys in the forks of tree branches. When all the leaves fall, the dreys can be seen all over the place. Interesting to know they also live in ground houses.

Hello Debbie, that is funny. I have never seen a squirrel gathering grass for a nest. Cute series of photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!

Well, there IS some fullness in the tummy area, and not sure if I see some mammary development in the second shot, but I'm pretty sure I Do see mascara, so I think Junior may be a girl. Very pretty squirrel.

Very interesting..I usually see them using leaves and twigs, not grass.

Oh my, Junior is just so adorable. I love the picture of the grass and twigs in his mouth. That is a priceless shot. I am looking for you to find that nest and see it's purpose.
Blessings and hugs!

If only (s)he could be trained to chew in straight lines you would have an inbuilt lawn mower! One can always dream.

What a cute picture with her or him building a nest. Or maybe getting her nest ready for winter? What if that means it is going to be cold? I watch for signs like that.
Great pictures.

I don't think I have ever seen a squirrel tear up a yard like that! Maybe he was befuddled by love.

Junior is so beautiful. He likes to be around your place ☆
I saw a squirrel do that once.

I've never seen a squirrel use grass! So cute with that mouthful. When ours are nesting, we find tender-stemmed sections nibbled off the oak and dropped in the yard. My husband says they're wasteful in their use of building materials.
