Knitting Woes!!

oh yes, we are having some real knitting woes over here at my house.
You may remember that I started working on the
Outlander Cowl.
You can read the exciting beginning of that story here.

Well, things have not been picture perfect.
I had to rip it out twice because of mistakes.
The first time, although I was much further along,
did not sting quite as much.
The second time, I felt like a failure.

The third time was not the charm as I am right
back where I was the first time,
with a mistake that really affects the pattern in the cowl.

To me, the pattern looks a little bit like a basket weave...

but if you look where my finger is, it looks like I am off one stitch,
and it changes the entire look of the pattern of the cowl.

From a distance it is quite obvious that the stitches to the left,
maybe three rows, don't match.

I learned how to make one "m1", which is to make/add a stitch,
I think it looks sloppy but Leanne says I am o.k.

Right now I have stopped work on the cowl. I have class on Monday
and Leanne thinks she may be able to help me
rip out 3 or 4 rows and restart from there.
I don't know how to do that.

And to cheer myself up,
I purchased another knitting basket.
My other is full, right to the tippy top.
I think most "real" knitters have several.

I do LOVE this one!!

I can understand why you'd be frustrated at the moment with your cowl. I'm glad you are asking for and getting help to fix the mistake. The basket is gorgeous!

At least I can sympathize. I've often heard great frustration expressed around here after some sewing gets taken apart yet again!

Good sunday! Have a nice week!

Oh how frustrating. Your work is lovely, though so just keep at it and you will be so happy when it is all finished and ready to wear. Love the knitting basket.

Ooh!! I love that one! That is just georgeious!! That is something I have learned and made myself do over and over again. I have some rugs I have ripped out four or five times. In the end I am always glad I did it. It still is so hard every single time though. I have this thought that each time I take something out, I am learning just a bit more about what I love. I can't see the mistake, and I think the progress you have done is beautiful. I do know, I can see the mistakes when I am working and it does drive me crazy, so I totally understand the agony. I am glad you have a class on Monday, that will help. I love the color Debbie.

Our Virgo perfectionism seems to arise when we just can't get that one little detail. Right? I love the color of your cowl, and I'm sure you'll look gorgeous in it. When Leanne helps you with that row, I'll bet you go zooming forward! Enjoy!

You are AMAZING. xo.

First I love your color choice and second you are way ahead of me in the knitting department. Crochet is what I do.

I love, love, love your knitting bag!

Lovely baskets...lovely...is that purple?? ha ha...lovely.. But, really, why stress about knitting when you could be quilting?

Yeah, a real good knitter can usually rip out a few rows. My mom was a good knitter. I crochet. And I rip stuff out. A lot. Basket is gorgeous. I used to be a basket weaver. I used to rip baskets out a lot, too. Josephine likes to rip anything she can get her little paws on!

You are trying and that's a PLUS; I admire your tenacity, Debbie. I would have probably thrown it on the floor and danced/stomped on it. I'm sure you'll get after your lesson tomorrow. And, I love that basket as well! :)

That's what I need, a knitting basket!

Doesn't look like to much trouble to rip out and fix. OR....you could continue on and call the new pattern a creative design element? I admit to doing both more than just a few times!
So you must be up to 4-5 knitting containers now. Warning to the Hubs....the next step is a dedicated stash room for all you knitting.

Oh I so understand, in my craft group we have a few gals that know quite a bit about crochet and when I fall into a problem I always have to wait until we get together again before I can go any further to get their help. That bag is wonderful, yes every crafter needs a few bags for transporting supplies around, even if it is from room to room :)

Well at least you can still redo it, and in the end, you'll have a real labor of love all of your own! From what I can see it looks lovely.

well - love the basket! Perfect "while-I'm-waiting-and-learning" gift to yourself to keep the frustration at bay! Can't wait to see you proudly wearing the finished product....cause I know you'll get there!

Oh my gosh, I will not show you my mistakes in some baby blankets I crocheted. I could never get one of them perfect. I decided that it will just make them unique blankets from Grandma.
I love the color and I am sure it will be lovely when you have finished it.
Your new basket is lovely; I love the colors and it is perfect for your yarn supply.
Hugs!

That's a pretty pattern. The friend who rode to the retreat with me knitted and unraveled, knit and unraveled. I joked she'd made a dozen sweaters on the way up and had nothing to show for it! She said she loves the process, trying new stitches, an using different yarns and needles.
