I attract so many birds at my home feeders,
unfortunately, not all are healthy.
This little sweetie is my newest hero!
Blind, with limited flying ability this Female House Finch
is able to find my feeders, enjoy my offerings
and mingle safely with my other, healthy birds.
When she senses my presence
or knows other birds are around, she will open up her eyes!
I have old, fading hydrangeas under the feeders,
a good spot for her to seak shelter and remain protected!
She finds me every day...
and always let's me know she feels my presence!!
I named her "Lucky"!!

Poor little thing. I wonder what happened to her. Maybe it's old age. That would be a comfort. Wonderful touching post.

I've seen finches just like this at our feeders. They seem to have an infection of some kind in one or sometimes both eyes. Glad she can get some food at your place!
Poor little thing...
Oh poor sweet thing. I am glad she found your feeder. She has "House Finch eye disease" "mycoplasmal conjunctivitis", and the prognosis is not usually good.
