Chasing an Egret

Yesterday afternoon, the hubs and I were out and about,
(that means we went out for a light dinner, we don't do much else)

We were headed back home and I wanted to stall,
(that means there was too much work waiting to be done at home)

So I said to the hubs, "let's take a drive down by the marina,
and see if we can find anything".
Now of course you all know what that means!!

So long story short, we struck Egret gold.
At least six and one baby, but no one wanted their picture taken.

Except this guy,
The Great Blue Heron

Funny thing I realized when I got home and plugged in the camera,
he was "in" all the horrible Egret shots and I never saw him!!
He "blended" with all the greenery!!

At some point he must have been offended
at my lack of attention toward him,
he hopped out from the trees and posed for about 5 minutes.
I was so excited, I couldn't breath!!
Note to Nancy Hoho, if you read this, you better not go without me.

Beautiful heron, I've had trouble getting a good shot of egrets too, they don't stay in one place for long once the camera comes out.

I am happy you were out and about! Great pic! Once an egret came to the pond outside our kitchen door. I had a duck decoy floating in the water and the bird decided to check it out apparently! Love looking at birds......

As I was buckling the boying into their seats in the car. I looked back at the water and a blue heron was fly over the perfect glassy water. What a bugger I missed him. I love your shots! If you are around Thursday morning I think we should get together!

One of my favorite birds to photograph. They can blend in quite well if you're not looking for them. Great shots, Debbie!

Debbie, He is beautiful. I am not for sure I knew they would fly into a tree. What a wonder "unplanned" adventure. Bonnie

I love shooting, er..snapping, the blue heron that hangs around our pond. I've gotten him hanging out in the trees, I wonder if they sleep there?

Great shots Debbie, he does look like a big bird sitting in the trees.
Now go home and get on with that housework, lol.

I love egrets!! Isn't that how it always goes. My best shots are the ones I take in a hurry and don't focus on making a great shot. When I "focus" they turn out terrible!!

I've got one who visits my backyard pond--you can have him!! I've resorted to putting in a fake one to scare him off. He's easy to get photos of! Hee! Hee!
