...do you have it?
Dear friends, I find after a day or two away from this space, I lose my enthusiasm.
The joy I normally feel when sharing my "stuff" with you...my "mojo".
I looked up the word mojo and it means, personal magic, charisma, confidence,
or special power to succeed.
I'm not sure I would have defined it in that way, for me, I would define it as a feeling,
or excitement in one's self.
So what have I been up to...not much.
I am still feeling a little Covidy, slow and sluggish, with mild cold like symptoms.
I have been home since the 16th of February.
We started this week with a blizzard on Sunday into Monday, getting more than 2 feet of snow.
I texted son Mike to let him know about the upcoming storm...
- his reply -
do you have enough yarn?
Ya gotta' love a kid who knows his momma.
They should look familiar, I have made these before.
I hope there are enough friends and family left who don't already have one.
This is the second start to this one...
I was about 10 rows in when I remembered I was supposed to hold 2 strands of yarn together.
I had to take out about 10 rows, each row has 100 stitches...
to say it was difficult would be a huge understatement.
But...it is an easy knit, knit and purl stitches only.
This is a kit for beginners, and although I have been knitting for 10 + years,
I find these kits fun and inspiring.
The kit includes all the yarn, the circular needle, the pattern and a tag for the finished product.
This kit is from Sierra Yarn.
This kit is from Sierra Yarn.
It is their Dream Cloud Blanket in light blue/ivory.
The yarn is 60% Baby Alpaca and 40% Pima Cotton, it is as soft as a cloud.
I bought this yarn holder dish at a craft show, and I don't think I have ever used it.
It is beautifully hand crafted and holds the yarn perfectly as I knit.
I am just now realizing how much I like it, and that the yarn rolls better when I use it.
On February 21st I couldn't sleep...
As the sun came up the air was misty, foggy and this was what I saw.
I was not disappointed, it felt mystical...magical.
I have cooked, or the hubs has cooked every single night since we have been home.
We usually eat out once or twice per week, but between me not feeling well and the snow, we have not.
The hubs helped me make the trustly ole' cream of potato soup, it made enough for 3 meals.
The hubs picked up a chicken at Costco before the storm, another 3 meal item.
He bought this box of 40 cards for me for $ 14.99, that's a steal at the price of cards these days.
I know people don't send cards as much these days, I wonder if it is a dying tradition.
I love cards and prefer a card to a gift.
Here's a picture of this month's
I really love this calendar, and I am sure March will be much more colorful!

Hang in there! Hope you feel better sooner. Took me 3 weeks to get a sinus infection out, even with antibiotics and negative testing for the bad stuff. Takes me 2 cups of tea to get going. Yea, making myself go outside is good, even for boring errands. Love the kid who asked if you had enough yarn for an upcoming storm. How cute. Linda in Kansas
Hello Debbie,
I hope you feel better soon, having COVID is enough to take the Mojo away from everyone. I am glad you have a good stock of yarn. It is not good to run out of yarn or projects. Your blanket is looking beautiful. I love the sunrise scene. We may get another storm, Monday evening into Tuesday morning. I am tired of this cold winter. We have not done much outdoors at all for like two months. Take care, enjoy your day and happy weekend.
I hope you continue to recover. I love receiving a card. So personal. Sending healing hugs.
Covid can make you really worn out and thus take away your mojo.. I'm confident you will get it back and be back to your self soon.I really love your yarn holder- and despite no mojo you've made 2 beautiful gifts. I love your son's response.
Debbie, add my well wishes to those of many others. Sure, there are times when you lose you enthusiasm (mojo) for certain things. It happens to me on a regular basis, but then I find something comes along to shake me out of that feeling. You have good "reasons" being sick and snowed in, but from the photos shown in this post you have made great use of the at home time. The ornaments, blanket start and soup look wonderful. I still enjoy sending cards, notes and letters so that box of cards would have been my choice as well. The hubs found a great deal for you!
I think "mojo" comes and goes with age, Debbie. And being sick with Covid can certainly do that. Did you lose your sense of smell and taste? I hope not. I did, back in 2024 when I had Covid. It was gone for 2-3 weeks, but finally returned. Love your knitted blanket. I need to start knitting again. And I also like to write letters and send notes/cards. Texting is great, just not the same. Take care, my friend.
Do you have enough yarn is a wonderful question. Sorry you're feeling a little low but also still holding on to the last of being sick, can be a drain. Understandable. Here's to moving through it and, and, and, soon be springy outside for many new adventures your way. PS: Thanks for the comment. shooting bugs is one of my faves.
Always enjoy checking out your blog 'Debbie!
I"m sorry you are still Covidy -- I think I must have missed the post that revealed that one. But you have been remarkably productive so I say hats off to you. Ornaments and knitting. All lovely! Here's hoping by your next post you are feeling a bit more of yourself!
Oh, my friend. It has been a long winter. And Covid can make you feel "meh" for a while. I am dealing with the after effects. I love all your crafting. You are so talented. I love that bucket list calendar. I got me one at the beginning of Feb. I did a lot of the "things" and some I didn't I have been sick two times this month. :) But spring is coming.....
Sorry to hear you are still feeling yucky, hope it isn't much longer and you will be feeling much better. I love your sons question to a blizzard coming, LOL! that yarn holder is pretty cool!
I love the misty morning you had, so pretty!
Wow he got a great deal on those cards, I love how our husbands know just what to pick up for us :)
I think many of us lose our mojo at this time of year, and getting over Covid is not easy ... but hang in there.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
PS I do like your yarn holder dish.
You are allowed to have a blankish todo list when you're recovering from Covid! It's really the best and only way to do it! I sure felt like I lost my blogging mojo when I was absent for so long. And it was so hard starting again with the new provider. I kept telling myself that learning new things is good for the aging brain (but it is so much easier not to!).... I feel like i'm getting it back now and really starting to enjoy it -- it helps to have the support from comments and I am grateful for yours!!! .... I'm always so happy to read your posts, but don't rush things -- your health and full recovery should be first priority!!
Debbie, even though you’re feeling a little slow and ‘Covidy,’ your post still shines with so much heart. The ornaments, the blanket restart, that magical sunrise—your mojo is absolutely still there, just resting a bit while you heal. I hope you’re feeling better soon, and I loved this peek into your week. I love that calendar too!
No mojo here. Perhaps mine is out having fun with yours. We got snow here but nothing compared to how much you got. We had 3 inches at the most. Love the yarn for that blanket. I might be able to figure out something like that. The potato soup looks really good. That was a great deal on those cards. I normally make cards that I send but I agree, not too many people send them anymore.
Hope you're feeling better soon
Winter takes my mojo if I can’t get outdoors. Hope you have yours in abundance soon, Debbie.
Dear Debbie, I hope you have a rapid recovery 🙏 😊
My MoJo has been gone too. Good job with the knitting and ornaments. The card kit was a steal!
