The Red-Winged Blackbird Returns

I only see the Red-Winged Blackbird during the summer,
yet according to my bird book, it is here year round.
It is a widespread, familiar bird, with a very familiar and distinctive call.
Sexes are dissimilar and on Sunday I only saw males.

- blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly...
all your life, you were waiting for this moment to arise -

You are right about their distinctive call, when I hear that, I know spring is here! Do you have any yellow-headed blackbirds out your way?

Beautiful blackbird. I love when they sing early in the morning.
Have a nice weekend.

These birds, although not terribly musical, have a certain charm.

I always recognize it by its call.

Beautiful photos! We're supposed to have them all year, too, but generally don't see any during winter.

We just went out to the park we like to go to last night and we saw quite a few of these birds, so neat to see them hanging out all over :)
