On one of the many gloomy, rainy day's we've been having
here at the Jersey Shore,
here at the Jersey Shore,
I was so excited to spot the Eastern Kingbird, way up high in this tree.
As I photographed this bird, I had no idea what it was...
I just knew that it was a first for me!!
After a quick flip through my bird books,
I learned that this bird is very common in these parts,
but I have never seen one.

It is very distinctive in flight, with it's whitey, white "undercarriage",
and the conspicuous white tip on its gray/black tail.
Isn't it so exciting to see a bird for the first time?
Even when it's a kind of common bird!!

Oh it is exciting! I have been seeing so many cool birds at the farm, but can't get pictures. You have to come see the blue birds they are so cute.
WooHoo! So exciting! I love how all of the gray tones work together in the bird and sky.
Congrats- it's always fun to see the first one.
Beautiful bird - and stunning composition in the photo... the tones, and this guy standing out on top of those branches!! LOVE catching birds when they're sitting way up on top like that!
Thanks Debbie I have had two of them sitting on my fence in the field for weeks and wondered what they were. Yes it is nice to see new birds. Great shots. Hug B
Very nice and very pretty. We get them in the spring and fall. I am so glad that you got such a good picture of him.
It IS!!! The new birds I see are mostly from you these days! I have a birding journal that goes back 30 years or more. Have not added a new one in 18 months!
Love seeing YOURS!!
It's so amazing to me that a bird can teeter on the tiny branch. Great shots!
As always you take such wonderful photos.
Hi Debbie...Congrat's on a newbie for ya!

Hi Debbie,
It's a pretty bird... and I love how you've captured it up there surveying its domain.
Always a treat to see a new one isn't it :D)
They are beautiful.
Sometimes here some birds come and next year I have other birds around me.
looks like they change places from time to time:)
I've seen a couple in the outlying areas near the river, but did not get such great captures like these.
I've never seen one either.
He looks so regal sitting way up there in that tree!
Happy day to you, Debbie!
We have them here, too, but I rarely see them. You got some nice shots! I don't think I've ever photographed one.
You got some great shots! I love how he's silhouetted against the sky--very nice.
I love seeing any kind of animal (except snakes) for the first time "in person."
Congratulations and you got good pictures as well.
Always great to see a bird we haven't set eyes on before. Lovely photos Debbie :)
Wishing you a great day,

You always capture the best pictures of these different birds. I am so impressed with all of the different kind. For some reason I don't see a lot of birds although we do have a cute family of ducks that I will be posting in the near future.
Blessings!
