The Cape May County Zoo

We recently took a day trip to The Cape May County Zoo.
I have mixed feelings about visiting a zoo.
Seeing beautiful wild animals in captivity is very difficult for me.
But I also enjoy being able to spend time with,
and learn more about exotic birds and native animals
that I would otherwise never have the opportunity to enjoy.

There were two beautiful Bald Eagles,

It was an amazing experience to be this close to them.

There were beautiful blue Peacocks,

and a few white ones also.

Flamingo's

The very elegant Black Swan

The Masked Lapwing

And last but not least,
the very adorable Asian Fairy Bluebird!!

These are just a few of the very beautiful birds we saw during our visit.

I agree with you about seeing these birds and animals in a zoo,but it may be the only way I will see some of them.
You have great pictures of these beautiful birds even in captivity.

I understand what you're saying about zoos... at least they're a lot more 'animal friendly' these days.
Beautiful shots and I just love the colours :D)

That last bird is almost fluorescent!
I'm always astounded by the variety - the creativity...I mean, why not just make a bird, and move on...no, we have a gagillion (I'm so scientific) different kinds of birds to enjoy! I saw the brightest "chirpiest" yellow birds this weekend at the pond...so fun when their color just pops out of the trees all of a sudden! Beautiful shots!!

Beautiful pictures! Some days I feel like I am living in a Zoo! Visiting Zoos or animals in captivaty should be about educating yourself and appreciation for the animals. So long as the animals are being treated fairly I am all for zoos.

Hi Debbie, the birds are beautiful. I love the bluebird . I feel the same way about zoos. It is hard seeing the animals in cages. Have a great day!

Very nice shots. I understand your feeling about the zoo...I hate to see them captive, but I do enjoy getting to see creatures we would never see otherwise. It is a fine balance, I guess.

I have mixed feelings about zoos too. My boys enjoy going so much, but it is sad to see the animals in captivity.

Gorgeous bird shots. I'm always partial to the eagles. I will have to post about how I was chased down by an eagle, (some day)

I love all of these shots, even if you had to visit a zoo. I had to laugh because I am not a fan of zoos. I know this is going to sound nutty, but to me, I can feel the way the spirits of the caged animals have been broken by being looked at and it makes me be in pain and I can't wait to get out of there. The only zoo I have liked is one in San Diego called the Wild Animal Park and the animals live out in the open
and you ride a train but they are not in cages.

Beautiful birds we don't get to see here very often, if at all.
