The Great Adventure's of Mystic!! Part 1....

We love Mystic, Ct.
We have been many times and discover something new each time we visit.
I also love the familiarity of Mystic, we know the streets,
shops and most importantly, the restaurants!
We arrived on Sunday, later in the day.
We checked into the Hilton Mystic,
had dinner and then strolled around all the little shops in the Mystic Village.
The shops were closed, no one was around so it was a great opportunity to set up the Nikon,
use the timer and get some super fun photo's.
In case you missed that "photo shoot", the best of Sunday's pictures can be viewed here.

It was a quiet night, we went back to the room to rest and turn in early.
We did add one exciting element to Sunday night,
that was room service, (my favorite) which included this...

amazing chocolate cake with fresh strawberries!!!!
It tasted as good as it looks and was super moist & fresh......

On Monday, June 6th we slept in and missed breakfast at the hotel,
they stop serving breakfast at 10:30 a.m....WHAT!
We had breakfast at Friendlies, where the "entertainment" was far superior to the food...
let's just say there sure are some interesting people in Connecticut!!!

We spent most of Monday at the Mystic Seaport, founded in 1929.
The 19 acre site actively pursues the collection,
preservation and exhibition of artifacts and skills related to maritime history
and it's influence on American life.
Now let's get down to the good stuff, pictures......

Welcome to Mystic Seaport.....
This place is awesome......come along as I show you around!

We took this picture by the entrance,
you can see some of the shipyard in the background!

The Amistad......launched March 25, 2000, one of the newer boats here.

The Sabino, established 1908.
The Sabino, a gorgeous, sole surviving wooden boat
takes you for a 30 minute cruise up and down the Mystic River!

Duke, provided a great tour of the seaport grounds,
he is super friendly and super famous appearing in several films recently.
He is traveling to Brooklyn as I type, to appear in another film....
I sure do wish I could remember which one!!!

It was a gorgeous day, partly cloudy and the temperatures were in the low 70's.

We met our oldest son Scott for dinner at Abbott's, Lobster In The Rough.
If you have never been to Abbott's, it is a must do on your next visit to Mystic.
I will post more details about Abbott's in Part 2.
Scott is not a lover of photo's so there are no pictures to prove our visit.
He lives in Connecticut, one of the main reason's we love Mystic, we get to visit with him.

The Mystic Drawbridge

After dinner, we had ice cream with Scott,
strolled the street's of Mystic and got to see the Mystic Drawbridge go up.
It's a real treat if you have never seen a drawbridge open with concrete counter weights.

So that's it for part 1. Stay tuned for part 2, tomorrow. Even more fun awaits!
