Saturday's Critters #459

Post tropical storm Ian is swirling around New Jersey today,
wreaking havoc on the ocean, supplying us with a lot of much needed rain.
The hubs and I felt well enough for a short ride in the car yesterday, to see the ocean.
If you have lived at the shore for any length of time,
you know that whenever we have a storm,
big or small, you need to check the ocean and make sure it is still there.
It's a "shore" thing!

So here are a few images of Ian visiting the Point Pleasant Inlet yesterday...

Gulls

On our spin around Lake of the Lilies, I spotted this American Wigeon,

The marking around the eye is not green in any light.
Otherwise, this duck has all of the markings of the American Wigeon.

I liked this "odd" picture,
the weeds and grasses proved to be quite a challenge in getting a good picture.

Sharing today's images with Eileen at
for Saturday Critters

Love your pics, Deb. Glad you and hubby are feeling better. And glad Ian is bringing you needed rain... and no destruction.
We used to go out to Lake Pontchartrain to see the effects of storms coming in. Your pics remind me of my growing up in New Orleans.

I completely understand the need to check out the ocean during a storm!

Waves look pretty choppy! I like the last pic with the birdie through the grasses. Linda in Kansas

Hello,
My hubby likes to check out the ocean during or after the storms too.
I love your cute Wigeon photos, they are beautiful ducks. Sorry, I was away for a week and I am late visiting. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy new week ! PS, thanks for leaving me a comment.

I'm glad y'all were able to get out! Those are some interesting photos, Debbie. I really like what you called "odd" picture. The weed and grasses and the focus also of himself. *or, herself" :)

Glad to know you are feeling better. My son and daughter-in-law have it now but seem to be on the upswing. Wonderful photos as always Debbie.

In my prayers.

Yup, that's a wigeon. Lots of them up here in North Dakota.

Wow such dramatic pictures, isn't it something how long one storm can last, days and days of stiring things up. Glad it had slowed down a bit by the time it got up to you all. Love the pics of the Wigeon with the green hanging out of his mouth, he sure has some neat markings!

Wow! I've never seen a duck like that. I looked them up and I guess there's all kinds of wigeons. Thank you for sharing this with us.

When the hurricane was reported coming up the coast, I thought about you. We prayed for those affected by this storm. You get the Hurricanes, and we wait for the earthquake that has been predicted for years.
Your photos were excellent. I loved the Wigeon ones. It is a pretty bird, and you got some great shorts.
Big hugs!
