We have taken several rides around Lake of the Lilies these past few days.
I have heard that the Whistling Ducks are back but I did not see them.
The lake is however filled with Mute Swans, at least 50, probably more.
I saw 2 Great Egrets and a lot of pretty birds.
The lovely Mute Swan
Next up, the Great Egret
Fishing
Catch of the day...
The Egret has a fish in both of these pictures.
It was a successful fishing expedition!
And this bird which I could use some help identifying...
It seemed like a typical Sparrow or Finch, but did not match any pictures in my book,
with its solid gray chest, shorter tail and no black on its wings.
Its beak was on the larger, thicker side.
Almost all Sparrows in this area have black on their wings.

I have never seen a bird like that last one, Debbie. Great catch, so to speak!
Hello Debbie,
I love your Swans and Egret photos, they are all beautiful. The sparrow is difficult for me to id, maybe a female or young House Sparrow? I am just guessing. I would love to see the whistling ducks, I heard they have been seen in Delaware too. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Interesting! Maybe he is a traveller from a faraway place.
Oh my I'd love to help identify the bird but I'm not too good with their names, although it does seem much like a sparrow. Your swan is just gorgeous and how lucky can you be for rides around that lake. Wonderful summer memories in the making. Take care.
You take such beautiful photos! The swans are just gorgeous!
I hate that my comments are not coming through! SHISH! But the Swans are lovely and that mystery bird does look like a young one without all it's colors yet. Enjoy your weekend!
It’s always frustrating to have a perfectly clear photo of a bird but find that it’s not really identifiable. I hope you find out what bird it is.

The Swan photos are spectacular as are the Egret ones.
Beautiful bird photos!
The small bird looks like a juvenile female house finch to me. I searched for images of one and saw a photo that looks like your unidentified bird. My safflower seed feeder is overrun with house finches now and I've seen lots of juveniles. She may not have her full set of colored feathers yet. The swan is gorgeous!
The detail in your shots always amazes me. Love the swan shots.
Hi Peg, thanks so much for your help…I thought the same but just wasn’t sure!! Thanks also for visiting, and leaving me a comment. Debbie
Great pics, I love the reflection of the egret in the water that you got, so cool. I don't know what kind of bird that is, so fun to see new ones isn't it :)
Hello Debbie, Beautiful shots of the water birds. The unidentifiable image does look like a Sparrow to me, but not certain
Great pictures! I hope you get a shot of the whistling duck, we have never seen one in real life
Great bird pics! I’d love to see a whistling duck.
