When we arrived in Long Branch for the Kite Festival most of the large kites where on the ground.
There was not enough of a breeze to keep them up in the air.
It was also cloudy, hazy, no sun in sight.
This is an annual festival, held on the beach in Pier Village, Longbranch, New Jersey,
where there is generally a bit of a breeze.
there was no lack of effort.
Still not enough of a breeze to get all of the kites up in the sky.
People had traveled here from as far away as New Hampshire and Maine,
such a shame it was not more of a success.
We had a really nice afternoon.
We brought the Zinger, we actually keep it charged, in the car, so we were able to take a nice long walk.
Once the sun came out, it was a beautiful day.
The boardwalk here is so nice,
there are so many great shops, restaurants and a carousel, which I photographed to share on another day.
We stopped for Pete and Eldas pizza on the way home.
Delicious thin crusted pizza but it was so loud I came home with a headache.
I love their pizza but in the future,
we will get take-out and eat it at the beach as it is so close to Ocean Grove.

Hello,
The kites are beautiful, so colorful. The kite festival looks like a fun event. Beautiful photos. Take care, have a wonderful weekend.
Such a variety of colors and shapes! Wished the wind would have cooperated so they all could fly.
What an interesting event! We have the air balloon festivals around here, but no kite festivals. Thanks for the pics!
I love Pete and Eldas but I only go there off season. Best thin crust pizza I have found around here.
So sorry to hear that there wasn't enough breeze to get the kites up in the sky. Beautiful array of colours though and such fabulous shapes. Your photos are wonderful. I think eating the pizza at the beach is a great idea.

Shame there wasn't more breeze, but the kites are so colourful.
All the best Jan
Colourful kites!
Cool festival of kites, even if they were tethered to the tall poles. Grab a triangle shaped kite from a store some day. They are very easy to fly. I did with my son when he was young, and at 34 years old, he sent me a pic of him flying a two-handle kite on the Gulf shore while in Texas. You're never too old. Linda in Kansas
that is a shame it wasn't more windy, they should hold it here, I can't remember the last time it wasn't windy, LOL!
The sky looks so pretty with all the colorful kites against it, nice that at least some were able to get up in the sky!
So great you have a way of getting around when it is too much to do on your own :)
Have a great weekend!
It's impressive even without all of them flying! Some of the kites look like they'd require a stiff breeze to get them in the air. It was nice to get the blue sky!
