Seaking Shelter

A quick update on "Sandy".

This pretty male Cardinal is seeking shelter in my fading hydrangea's.

If you go outside, you will get wet
and your hair will be tasseled.

So far, so good!!

3:30 p.m. Update, The Weather Outside is Frightful.
but everything inside is delightful.
We still have power and really good eats!!

There's A Storm A Brewing...

I think we are expecting some bad weather here at the Jersey Shore.
Perhaps a storm named "Sandy".

Chuck and I are preparing, the way that we always do...

We went for a ride on these,

We checked up on the beach...the calm before the storm.

The seagulls were happy, keeping a watch full eye over things.

And our dinner at Moonstruck in Asbury Park was outstanding!!

I'm not going to mention the $ 36.00 ticket
we got for not feeding the meter.

Nope, not going to mention that!!

It's Rural Thursday...

Let's hit the kitchen...let's get baking!!

Today we are making the hubs favorite cookie,

 Here's the cast of characters.

Only four ingredients in the dough, butter, flour,
sugar and almond extract.
This,

turns in to this, 1 inch balls of dough.

I use the back handle of a wooden spoon,
to poke "holes" in the dough, they hold the jelly!
I make all the dents "thumbprints" first,
then I use a baby spoon to fill the holes with seedless jelly.
Any flavor will do, but we love raspberry!

Here they are after about 12 minutes of baking.

Now they are waiting to be iced...
but wait there are three cookies missing...
the cookie monster has been busy, his name is Chuck.
He is better known as the hubs!!
The recipe is here.

It's Rural Thurdsay, what fun things have you guys been up to??

October in Cape May

Last Sunday, we went to Cape May in New Jersey!

Last Sunday...

That's how far behind I am on sharing my adventures!
The weather has been perfect and
we have been having the time of our lives!

Cape May Beach...

The Lighthouse...

Cape May Point

The boat behind us was filled with flowers
and surrounded by a beautiful garden.
I will post more about that purple, butterfly garden next week,
I got some really amazing pictures here.

The Hubs,

his bride!!

You know there was a horse and carriage ride!
The sun was setting as we rode through the streets of Cape May.

It was nice and cool and we cuddled in the warm blankets!

Fish for Dinner...

As I put this entry together, the pictures all started to look the same.
Yet I was unable to delete any of them.
I know you understand.
As I sat with him, this Great Egret had a fish for dinner.
He ate slowly, so I was able to photograph the entire process.

This is the second set of images I took on October 11th, 2012.
There are more, of course. I think I will save them for next week.
I did not crop these as I fell in love with the blue background water.

These images are untouched.
This is exactly what I saw, through my lens!
It was so exciting!!
