My Garden Scrapbook

I have always been a Scrapbooker...a saver of memories.
I started this Garden Book in 2020,
so I would always remember what seeds we planted and where we planted them.

I saved all of the seed packages, marking each with information on where they were planted.

I made the book like a Scrapbook so it would be more fun to work on and keep current.

This is a small map the hubs made outlining how we were going to lay out this years garden.

There are a lot more pages, I just randomly picked a few to show you!!

Painting with Watercolors

Saturday mid-morning, the house grew dark...the sky opened up and the rain came down like blankets.
It was cool outside, there were soft rumbles of thunder, and a few strikes of lightning.
- my favorite day -
I love when it rains, it is so relaxing to watch and listen to as it dribbles down the window panes.
The rain smelled clean and fresh, the grass and all of my flower gardens got watered, it was wonderful.
Nowhere to go, nothing to do...
it rained most of the day and I was able to get in some watercoloring painting.
I am not sure if I will ever be a watercolor painter, my hands are not loose or free flowing enough.
It is a different "feel" and "style" of painting.

I keep all of my painting supplies inside this basket I made during one of Lizes classes.
I watched a few videos on youtube, I am still learning,

I painted 3 pictures, all in this book, and although I know they could look better,
I am satisfied with the outcome.

I had fun, I am looking forward to getting the paints and brushes out again.

Saturday Critters #600

We passed this beautiful Doe while out for a drive.
With an injured leg, it did not run away, so I was able to get very close.
It was so beautiful!

In some of the pictures,
she looked thin, from other angles she looked to be a little large in her lower belly.
Wouldn't it be exciting if she were carrying a baby or two in there!

I think tomorrow, I will try my hand at watercolor painting...again.
It has been difficult to find time, I have not had much time to knit either.
I find I am much happier when I am creating something with my hands.

The Strawberry Moon

The sky is vast, endless...and forever changing.
I have always been fascinated about the mystery of the sky.
The Sun, the Moon, the Planets, Shooting Stars, and the Constellations.
I am drawn to Natural Phenomenons like Rain, Clouds, Snow, Meteor Showers, Shooting Stars,
Rainbows, Auroras and Asteroids,
Not to mention Hurricanes and Tornadoes and a "good storm".
Whenever "the people" announce a Phenomenon is coming, I  write down all details, and if
I don't fall asleep, I get to see it.

I took this picture on June 10th, at about 10 pm.
apparently it could be seen on the 10th and the 11th.
Much to my surprise the moon was pink.
The Strawberry moon is rare, we have not seen one since 2006.

Strawberry Moon
is a nickname that has been given to the first full moon in June.
I hope you got to see it, it was magical.

We saw a harvest Moon once...it was soooo yellow/orange

- The Hydrangeas are blooming and each of the 8 shrubs are abundant with flowers.
I have every color you could ever imagine, coming from the endless summer,
They are doing well...now the watering begins.

The Lego Botanical Collection

I read about a stoop,
on the upper east side that was decorated with hundreds of flowers that were made from Legos.
My first reaction was to get in the car, go find it and take pictures, of course.

The display was for Mother's Day weekend.
I wonder if it's still there, blooms you can build, it's a real thing.

After a lot of time on Google and the Legos website, I found these images...

Everyone of these flowers was made with Legos.

Incredible...
These are going on my Christmas list this year, if I can wait that long!

Best of the Nest

is a birdhouse competition and display we enjoyed at
This display showcases unique birdhouses designed and built by people in the area.
It is a competition, people who visit Peddlers Village can vote on their favorites.
We did not vote, it was the last day of the display and the winners had already been chosen.
The birdhouses needed to compete in one of the following categories,
Professional, Bucks County Landmarks, Natural, Traditional, Whimsical and there were 2 age groups.
These bird houses were still on display when we were there to see the

There were over 75 entries, these were my favorites...

This was my favorite of the favorites.

I took two pictures of The New Hope Train Station

This is the 2nd Annual Best of the Nest display.
They also included a Scavenger Hunt, birds that were scattered around the village.
I assume they had a pamphlet on that but I never saw one.
Since I did not know about it when I was there, we did not participate.
I would have, had I known.

If you have a favorite, let me know in the comments.
This was really fun, there are a lot of very talented people out there!

Safari in Sand

Peddlers Village in Bucks County, Pa. is a charming 18th century style shopping village.
Hosting gorgeous winding brick paths,
unique shops, indoor and outdoor dining, an Inn, a pond with fish and so much more.
It is a magical place that hosts many unique festivals and events.
We usually visit for these specific experiences, and for lunch or dinner, not to shop.
On Sunday we visited to see the Safari in Sand display, it did not disappoint.
We attended last years event and I think these sand sculptures were even better than last year.

- Herbivores of the Open Plains -

They provided a field guide with a map,
all of the sculptures were marked so you could be sure to see them all.
The guide also provide a type of scavenger hunt...6 specific animals that were hidden in the sculptures.
It was for the kiddos but of course we played along.

- The Big Five -

- This was not named and was the backside of The Big Five -

- Lioness Den -

- The Woodlands -

- These Monkeys were on the back of The Woodlands -

- Gorilla Sighting -

This was the hubs idea...he positioned my finger so it would appear I was picking the Gorillas nose.
...men...

- Rivers and Waterways -

- Predators and Carnivores -

- Wetlands and Rainforests -

- Ostrich Crossing -

This appears to be an Anteater
There was no sign and it was not on the map.

A few fun facts...
Over a two week span, 220 tons of sand was delivered here to create these landscapes of Africa.
Each large sculpture took approximately 125 hours to create.
Periodically, the sculptures are sprayed with a solution of water and wood glue.
The sculptures will be on display until the end of August subject to the elements of rain and wind.
They were completed on June 1st, we visited on June 8th.
