Good-Bye 2020, You Will Not Be Missed

What a year ~ for all of us!

We are not alone, not the only people to have lived through a pandemic.

Yarn Along

I finally finished my 

Infinity Scarf with the Alpine Stitch.

Crocheted with hand dyed 100% Baby Alpaca Yarn,

the color is called Beach Treasures.

The colors in this hand died yarn are amazing, with a new pop of color in each stitch.

Thank you Liz for creating this gorgeous yarn!

I thought this view outside my office window was so beautiful, 

the views of the sky have been really pretty lately.

Next up in my creating corner,

a September Hat for a very special little boy named Kalmin.

Christmas Fun

 Although very different this year, Christmas was super fun just the three of us.

We opened presents, played a lot of games and Christmas dinner turned out great.

Pot Roast with Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots, White Corn and Biscuits, all of our favorites.

I made apple crisp for desert ~ I did not take pictures of any of the food.

The hubs took this picture of the dinner table 

before we loaded it with food.

This game ended up being my favorite...

using the emojis provided, you had to guess the Christmas song.

Mike won the "Word Search"

he is really good at word searches...he won at Thanksgiving also!

The "Word Jumble" was a 3 way tie, 

all three of us unscrambled all 16 words.

The contents of our "Crackers" a hat, a silly toy and some jokes.

It's a Tradition, 

silly but fun, something we all look forward to.

I bought this Roomba for Mike,

he didn't want it (WHAT) so I inherited it, I needed a new one anyway.

I knew he might not want it, so I bought the one that I wanted, I will put my old one upstairs.

I named it "Alice" which is required when you download the App and register the vacuum.

This updated version, empties itself, when it returns to the docking station.

Watching it vacuum today, I can tell it is more efficient.

My sister bought me this dainty heart necklace, I love it.

My fiber friend Liz gave me this cookbook and I love it.

Each family from her son's school submitted their favorite recipe to make up this book.

There are some really good recipes in it.

Santa left this ornament under the tree for the hubs and I.

I love it and think it is perfect for us!

Wise Words On Sunday

 

Saturday Critters ~ 367 ~

 Last week I said...

"Standing at my office window, camera in hand is probably one of my favorite places to be.

The window is open, the air is cold but I am enjoying every moment.

I watch the birds come and go from the feeders, seed in their beak and joy in their heart.

I can hear their song so clearly".

This is so true...

having son Mike home and enjoying all our Christmas festivities here,

I only had a few minutes at the window this week.

This morning, I gave myself 15 minutes to take some pictures, so I could share them here.

In 15 minutes I saw a lot of birds and was able to capture the following images...

Puzzle Time

 We have a love - hate relationship with puzzles around here.

We like to put one together every Christmas, but there are times when...well...

we are not sure we are in love.

First we said good-bye to last years puzzle, 

that had been stored, rolled up on the yellow mat.

It is a puzzle mat,

specifically designed for puzzles.

The snowman puzzle is 1000 pieces, never doing that again!

This one is 500, still very difficult.

We finished it in one day, I'm not sure that was our intention,

but no-one wanted to stop.

I'm not sure how long it took, but 2 and 1/2 people,

I'm the 1/2, I wasn't feeling well...

off and on, maybe 1/2 a day.

My Gingerbread House is done,

we all worked on it Sunday and this was a lot of fun!

We took a walk outside to see the whole 

Jupiter - Saturn thing.

I used "Night Sky" on my phone but we could not see it.

There were too many natural elements blocking it.

So I took a picture of Night Sky, just to prove we tried!

The Great Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt

 One tried and true Christmas tradition our family has always honored,

was to drive around and look at Christmas lights.

The journey always begins with a trip to Dunkin Donuts for hot coco.

Afterward,

and since the children were very little, the hubs has always stopped on a side street,

then placed the hot chocolate on the car roof to let it cool off.

Funny what you remember...funny what you still do.

Our town always publishes a list of the "best homes"...

it was so fun to have Mike with us as we were able to honor this Christmas tradition.

The Grinch and Santa were out front, greeting all of the little ones,

and the not so little ones.

All of the homes pictured are in our town, the people here have a lot of Christmas spirit.

This year, we played a Scavenger Hunt Game, it was really fun.

It was close but the hubs won with 24, Mike was second with 23...

and I lost with 22!

It will only be the three of us...

Mike is here, and the hubs and I, but I still want to have some fun.

All of my gifts are wrapped and under the tree.

There are only a few presents, most gifts were mailed.

My presents usually look better, 

I was not able to get out and buy the special ribbons 

and bows I usually use on my gifts.

Santa took a spin thru the neighborhood on a firetruck,

I was so happy I was home.

I baked another batch of butter cookies,

tomorrow I am going to bake thumbprint cookies,

I will share pictures with you tomorrow.

We got another little sprinkle of snow that lasted about 5 minutes.

Could I please get some measurable snow...

is that too much to ask for from Santa?
