Fair Isle Knitting Class

Yesterday, I had a Fair Isle knitting class...oh, it was so fun.

I was going to look up the definition of  

Fair Isle

but I will give you the low down, from my perspective.

I'm making a pretty hat, 

three different colors of yarn and a "pattern"!

Are you ready for that kids, a pattern.

I believe Fair Isle just refers to the technique

of working with many colored yarns on the same project,

and following a real pattern.

Big stuff for me after making approximately 40 plain

Donnie Hats...true story.

Class was in the "Coop", this is our cozy work station.

The gray hat under construction, bottom, middle, that's mine.

With a little bit of luck, it will look like the hat in the center of the table,

I am using purple where they used blue,

black, where they used white!

 In Fair Isle, you work with all the colors you are using,

all at the same time.

Your main color, which is gray for me, is knitting in the "regular" way.

Any colors you add, for me purple and black,

are knitted in your other hand and it feels like a backward motion.

 I worked on the hat when I got home,

and before I went to bed, it looked like this...

 and I got my yarn basket. 
I can't tell you how happy I am with it.

Leanne and her family set this one aside for me

and it's just perfect!!

It's handmade and as deep as the deepest river,

I am hoping there is enough room for all my yarn.

That's a joke...well, not really!!

So it was a wonderful day, all the way around.

Joy in the Kitchen...

My love for cooking comes and goes,

right now I am in the "I Love To Cook" phase of life.

I liken it to when I had my first apartment and when I was newly married.

It was new, fun and really exciting.

That did not last forever and it really became more of a chore.

I was bored and uninspired.

Then along came Pinterest and once again I am excited and inspired.

Made in the crockpot, it is the best I have ever eaten.
