we went for a drive...on a winter's day.
Well really, I had to go to the Alpaca Farm to pick up some yarn.
Not for me, for my "Winter Blues Swap Party" person.
Leanne picked it out for me, she was there giving lessons to three "very happy" ladies learning to knit.
I felt a little jealous, I really did, learning to knit was a life changing experience for me.
Not only that,
I met so many wonderful people...and made new, lifelong friends.
Now I wonder...what did I do before I started knitting?
An Emu out for a stroll.
This farm is across the street from the Alpaca Farm.
There are so many large bodies of water along the way...all were frozen.
These pictures were taken at the base of the river we live on,
at the marina, only a few minutes from home.
- frozen in time -
- solid ice -
- it was 16 degrees while we were here -
- these common reeds were blowing gently in the breeze -
Ice on the river can lift the pilings right up and out of the ground.
You can see in this picture where the pilings,
and the dock walkway has been lifted by about four or five feet.
Canoes and kayaks resting here until summer.
Lastly, a bouy out of water!

You took some very artistic photos. Snow looks nice and I love the shadows in Winter.
Love the tall grass in those shots!
Dear Debbie!
Beautiful winter landscapes.
Temperature -16°C or +16°C
Have a nice Tuesday.
That looks cold! You have emus that just hang out? Wow!
It is so crazy seeing this as I sit in 75 degrees of weather! LOL! Wow, it is beautiful.... I love seeing the frozen bodies of water!
Those scens are similar to here in nashua, NH, Debbie, and we have been looking at the frozen (not totally) Nashua River below outr apartment windows for the past couple of weeks. It was snow covered over the weekend with a 3-inch snowfall Saturday night into Sunday afternoon...more predicted for Tuesday 😟
Your photos are awesome. It's cold here too but I think we did get up to 24 today.
Great collection of photographs here Debbie ...
It's been a very grey, damp start to the week here in the UK with flood warnings for many areas!!!
All the best Jan
Winter weather can be absolutely stunning as shown in your photos Debbie. What a great eye you have! That emu was so cute and the scenery gorgeous! So glad you got into knitting because what you have shared here has been, what do I say? Gorgeous! Truly! Sounds like you found good friends and a passion for the knitting needles.
many thanks for your kind words!!
Hello Debbie,
Beautiful winter landscapes. I wonder if the Emu likes snow and the winter too? Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
Now you have me singing the song from your title :) Great winter pics of the water, we haven't gotten out at all this winter to take pics, I think Greg has gone on to other things. That is crazy how the pilings come right out. I saw on the news the other day that the ice is piling up on Lake Eerie really bad right now.
