I have been checking on the Mute Swans at Glimmerglass Lake,
no babies yet as of yesterday.
Earlier this week I posted about their progress here.
My daily post updates have not been added to the reading list so you may have missed it.
I thought the images were fabulous.
I'll re-share this one image, as Ms. Mute Swan moved to the side to show me they had not come yet.
According to my Bird Book, they are here year round but I have only seen them once before.
A robust and stocky shorebird, sexes are similar!
They have black, white and brown plumage with a bright orange bill that looks like a carrot.
The lake was so still, I was able to capture these pretty reflection.
Both of the American Oystercatchers were banded.
Thanks Redpat from Occasional Toronto for reminding me.
Here you can see both of them!
A few steps away, I saw these...
So did this Male Sparrow who kept an eye on me while I was taking pictures.
Sharing today images with Eileen at

Your photos are fantastic. I love the synchronized eating. Sounds like a sport I could do well at.

Hello Debbie,
Love the beautiful swan! I hope see those swan babies soon.
The Oystercatchers are one of my many favorite birds to see.

As always lovely photos and I always love seeing the different neat ones I don't know anything about!!
I've never seen or heard about oystercatchers. I would've called them carrot birds for that promenent bill. Linda in Kansas
Beautiful captures, Debbie! The swan looks so elegant and peaceful.
Looks like it was a great picture day, wow I have not seen the Oystercatchers, their bills are something else, they do kind of look like a carrot, great reflections you got on them!
