As I typed the title for this post, I thought there must be a better way to say this...
I thought and thought and this was the best I could come up with.
I enjoy cooking but being it is just the hubs and I, we eat out several times a week.
Over the last few years I have been using meal plans
Home Chef
being my favorite with Cook Unity a close second.
Home Chef provides all the ingredients you need to prepare a meal, while with Cook Unity the meal is fully prepared, fresh not frozen and needs usually about 3 minutes in the microwave.
Long story longer,
I am embarrassed to admit that we sometimes travel to a restaurant we like, even if it is a distance away.
We enjoy car rides and I will often google the area to see if there is something close by that we could visit and enjoy while we are there.
We like Cracker Barrel, the restaurant and the store, but the closest one is 1/2 hour away, we go anyway.
On our latest jaunt there I found this park and we visited, after eating of course.
The visitors center was closed but I found a little information on-line.
Built in 1892,
this Queen-Anne "Country Style" home sits on the remaining 22 acres
of the Kuser family's original 70 acre estate.
The original owner of the home, Fred Kuser had business interests in Fox Films, Lenox and
Mercer Motor Car Company.
The Township purchased the property from the Kuser Family.
It is impeccably kept with beautiful gardens, a playground area and picnic tables.
The inside is open on weekends and tours are provided.
I found a video on YouTube, it toured the inside of the Mansion,
the link I posted did not work so I removed it!
I did not read any information about the barn that was on the property,
I am sure it was used to house their horses.
The barn was very large and unique in shape.
So traveling to Cracker Barrel for fried chicken, theirs is the best, provided a very nice visit to
Remember to Google an area before you go, to see what hidden gems the area might hold!
S'mores Brownie Skillet
A warm chocolate brownie, topped with roasted marshmallow, a hershey milk chocolate bar...
served with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce on a bed of crumbled graham crackers...
recreating the experience of creating a s'mores over a campfire.

The ice cream looks mouth watering. The building reminds me of fairy tales and looks in good repair. Before my husband's demise we used to go to my favourite restaurant, an hours drive away, but the food was superb. After lunch we used to go on foot to a flower nursery near by, where we always bought something. It was an enjoyable afternoon.
Sometimes we would go to the beach to eat shellfish in one of the many restaurants along the coast, then go for a walk along the board walk. Now those times are over but my memories of them live on. Sorry to have written so much about my adventures but yours sparked happy memories I will never forget.
All the best
Sonjia.
You're always finding fun things!
Very interesting and what a mansion that is.
Hubby and I enjoy trying new restaurants and will travel to eat at a good place. We like Cracker Barrel and the park is a bonus.
Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
memories are good, good memories are great!! they say not to cry because it is over but to smile because it happened. that would be impossible but it lends a different perspective!!
And much safer than a campfire these days! No fires allowed in this country.not in eastern Canada anyway.
I love how you explore an area and combine it with local restaurants. Sounds perfect to me.
Fascinating post and beautiful photos.
Very interesting and pretty house! Loved seeing the barn/grounds etc. Yall find such neat places to go see!--- and I enjoy going along! We like Cracker Barrel too but haven't tried the dessert-- were always too FULL, LOL
The city I live in is very tourist focused, so there is very little choice for affordable eating out. Quite often my husband and I travel to the neighboring towns for restaurants as well. That is a beautiful house. I always love looking at the details. So good you found some information on the web too.

That's such a lovely looking building and the s'mores looks delicious.
All the best Jan
such a pretty house. We used to go out once a week and sometimes twice. But since covid the prices of the meals have gone up so much I do not enjoy it much so it is rarely now maybe once or twice a month. We went to lunch last week for my birthday and it was almost 70.00 with the tip and trust me we had nothing exciting.

The house is beautiful - all those gorgeous windows and the round turret at the top is so nice. The barn is beautiful, too. Love that you find nearby places to discover when you go out to dinner. Such a good idea. We don't have Cracker Barrel restaurants here in Washington state, but I've eaten at them on road trips and love all the interesting decor. The S'mores Brownie Skillet is amazing! Would make a great summer dessert for a bbq! x K
What a great place, beautiful architecture! I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in ages, and from that dessert I see we need to put it on our list.
We usually do it opposite, we look for places we want to check out and then look to see if there is any restaurants close by, if not we bring a picnic :) That is a very pretty mansion, I love checking out homes like that. Oh my does that dessert sound delicious, I think I heard they will be taking them away soon, just a summer thing.
