The lake has been fairly quiet this summer...no new or unusual wildlife have been hanging around.
Each time I visit, I see the usual suspects, swans, mallards and one egret.
During winter and early spring, the swans had migrated and there was not one to be seen.
Now the lake is full of swans but I do believe they will soon be disappearing.
I had a lot of fun photographing this swan...

This one is a beauty for sure, I love how the feathers are puffed up, amazing what they do with their necks!
They are so beautiful! I would love to see them one day in real life in their natural habitat. Your photos are just amazing, Debbie!

That’s a beautifully observed reflection on the rhythms of the lake and its inhabitants. There’s something quietly comforting about the “usual suspects”—the swans, mallards, and that one loyal egret—making their familiar rounds. It’s like catching up with old friends each time you visit.
How special that the swans have returned in full force after their winter absence, gracing the water with their presence even if just for a season. Their coming and going really echoes the gentle, cyclical pace of nature. Thanks for sharing this peaceful, poetic snapshot of your lakeside moments. It feels like a gentle reminder to appreciate the steady, graceful patterns of the wild. 🦢💙
