Every spring, a male and female
House Sparrow
take up residence in this beautiful birdhouse made from recycled materials.
I always wonder if it is the same 2 birds.
This is a picture of the birdhouse when I first received it.
It was a birthday present from the hubs.
This is the male, gathering feathers for the nest.
A very familiar bird across North America because of its affinity to people.
Here is the female on top of the house, the male close by to the right.
They are forever aware of their surroundings.
Here's the Mrs again, she does not come out of her too often.
He jumps down occasionally, but never seems to fly off!
The House Sparrow is a very common sparrow, rarely seen far from homes and farms.
Often tame where it is regularly fed.
Sexes are dissimilar.
Sparrows are so often overlooked because they are not colorful and don't stand out.
But they have a beautiful feather pattern, with lots of gray, black and brown.
I'm know we have eggs and we will be seeing babies soon!

This is adorable. Wishing you the most beautiful day.
Your post about the house sparrow is beautiful. I have them around me, too; in my garden, they are just as common as the tits—the blue tit and the great tit.
The birdhouse is lovely... it is wonderful that you will be able to watch the young ones.
Sending you lots of warm regards, Viola

We have a lot of sparrows here too, that would be neat to know if it is the same couple every time, neat how he keeps watch on top. Great pics!
