Backyard Beauties

I have not been spending much time at the windows lately,
I need to change that.
Here are a few common birds I have been seeing at the feeders lately.
Each bird is unique in many respects,
but perhaps their most visible characteristic is the layer of feathers that covers their bodies.
These serve a variety of functions in the day-to-day lives of birds,
and feathers on different parts of the body have evolved for a range of purposes.

Look specifically at the feather patterns and just how gorgeous they are...
they do not "need" bright colors!

Male House Sparrow

Female House Finch

Nuthatch

Male Cardinal

And another backyard beauty, this sweet bunny who has been bouncing around the yard all winter.

Well, that's a wrap...enjoy the beauty that is all around you!

  5. So much beauty, both in the birds and animals as well as in the sky. Does that bunny have a piece of his ear missing?

  7. I agree that it is amazing the markings on the feathers of so many different birds, such marvels God has blessed us with to enjoy each and every day if we just take the time to see them and he has given you a beautiful gift of capturing them in photos for us all to enjoy!! Just wait until that bunny wants to eat your goodies that you plant this summer :)

  8. I enjoy the beauty around me, but always your photos bring joy. Those birds are stunning and I love looking at the colors and relating to the difference between male and female; which always fascinates me. You are amazing!
    Sending loving thoughts your way!
