Basket Making With Liz

Liz gives amazing classes at the Farm.
She teaches wonderful craft skills, that without her, I would have no way to learn.
Her skills are self taught and she shares them with excited beginners.
She is a "confident beginner"!!

The Basket Making class was here at
We did not work in the Coop, it was a gorgeous day and we sat outside under an open tent.

First step...
I have made 3 other baskets with Liz, this is the first basket I made with a solid bottom.

The weaving was similar, just a little bit different than the others I have made.
I think it was over 2, under 1...I could barely remember as I was doing it.

Eventually, as you weave, you pull the sides up.
I really like the solid bottom for many reasons, the main being it is the easiest way to start.

Her I am, showing off the finished basket.
My hair is not usually that "poofy", it was very windy but a beautiful day at the farm.

Some close up pictures I took at home.
Right now I have Halloween candy in it but I would like to buy a plant for it.

I give out candy bars for Halloween and will include one of these small chocolate pumpkins,
filled with peanut butter, with each candy bar.

I don't think Liz will ever know how much I enjoy and "need" these classes.
She has taught me amazing skills and she emulates the kind of person I would love to be.
- it's fine -
She will know what that means...but she is so much more than fine.
