The Red-Winged Blackbird Returns

I only see the Red-Winged Blackbird during the summer,
yet according to my bird book, it is here year round.
It is a widespread, familiar bird, with a very familiar and distinctive call.
Sexes are dissimilar and on Sunday I only saw males.

- blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly...
all your life, you were waiting for this moment to arise -

  1. You are right about their distinctive call, when I hear that, I know spring is here! Do you have any yellow-headed blackbirds out your way?

  7. Beautiful photos! We're supposed to have them all year, too, but generally don't see any during winter.
