I was so surprised to see these gorgeous Black Swallowtails on my Butterfly Bush!
Please excuse the fact that it has not been pruned or dead headed all summer,
I have not been able to do it.
During a "normal" summer, I deadhead all of the spent blooms and the bush looks gorgeous.
It would have a lot more blooms on it had I been able to keep up with it.
Still the butterflies don't mind and I found these two were having a blast,
fluttering from one bloom to the next!
My dill did not do well this year,
so I did not get the abundant number of caterpillars I usually do.
- just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly -
Hello Debbie,

DeleteDebbie - what a blessing for you!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I saw a wonderful butterfly like that happened when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteHello Debbie,:=) What beautiful photos of the black Swallow Tail butterfly.I didn't know of their existence until now. They look exotic, and the caterpillar is also pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photographs Debbie :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Isn't it wonderful that the insects don't mind at all when we can't keep up with our gardening. Wow everything else grew so great in your garden, figures the dill wouldn't it. Another butterfly in the making :)
ReplyDeleteWe still have a few butterflies hanging around our butterfly bush. It got considerably larger this year. I would call your butterfly operation quite successful even if the dill didn't cooperate.
ReplyDeleteYou are finding the best of quotes. This was a good one. Your photos of butterflies are always spectacular. I love the one of the Caterpillar. You are so talented with taking photos!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
