We received more snow on Thursday, and the birds have been all over the feeders.
We keep the feeders filled with black sunflower oil seeds, all of the birds seem to prefer those.
We use to buy bird seed mix, but the birds never ate the filler,
who knew they had such a fussy palate.

These are awesome! The warbler is fantastic! Mixed seed is hit or miss depending on the mixture. Ours tends to run heavy on cracked corn which doesn't always get eaten. Due to our weather over the past ten days everything is getting eaten at the moment.

ReplyDeleteMy yard birds seem to love the Sunflower seeds the best too, but they enjoy the suet too. Gorgeous variety of birds, I love the cute Warbler, Titmouse, House Finch and the Dove. They are all great photos!

DeleteI use black oil sunflower seed too. This year I added a tray feeder with safflower seed and the mourning doves, cardinals, & evening grosbeak are loving it. There is also beef suet for all the woodpeckers,and others that enjoy it. Love all your photos of your birds.

DeleteYou have quite the selection of birds that come to your feeders, I didn't think the little ones ate those seeds, we have to go out and buy some more so I might have to check into that. Such great pics of them in the snow! You are finally getting your snow!!

ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures of all the birds, waking and sleeping)). They sure pose for you. I remember back when we used to feed birds that the black oil sunflower seeds were worth the extra cost because they worked! I bet the birds here in this part of Oregon are even more fussy because there is almost always something growing that they could eat , almost never covered in snow. They just like the sunflower seeds better!
