Saturday Critters ~ 88 ~

I found these horses, that looked a little bit like mules
during our trip to Lancaster in June.




It was something about their faces...
they stood in the corner of the farm, and only wagged their tales.
They were big and beautiful!!

 The farm was right next door to the Weavertown One Room School

It was closed and abandoned, I would have loved a peak inside.

    Hi Debbie! Aren't they big powerful animals! We were past them too in July at the Weavertown old school room. I think Lancaster County might just be one of the nicest rural areas I've visited in the USA. But then i love visiting the Amish. They do seem to look after their animals well.

    Oh, what a shame that the school room wasn't open so you could see inside. I had two aunts that taught in one room schools and I remember my mom talking about her school days in a one room school. Pretty unique. It had to be interesting.

    Very handsome! They actually look like mules to me, but I'm not an expert. Too bad you couldn't get inside the school. I guess the tourist bit doesn't go on any longer or it's just outside?

    Is there a cross between a mule and a horse? Maybe that's what they are. Part of them looks mulish, but there are some equine traits, as well. Whatever they are, they're cute! I love visiting Lancaster -- the scenery, the people, the food, and the serenity of days gone by.

    Oh - I found a one room school house in Oregon this summer....couldn't go inside either. I'd love to visit inside too! These mules are pretty intense looking - the dark coats are beautiful!

    They do look like mules! What a great fixer-upper for someone! It looks like it would have been fun there, when it was thriving! I like the welcome message someone left!

    yes they do look like mules so I had to look up what a mule was!! A cross between a female horse and a donkey. I am sure you knew that althoguh I didn't! I hope you enjoy the weekend.

    Your shot struck a memory...did you watch 'Gunsmoke'? Festus rode a mule. I always thought that was so weird.

    I love those horses and their heads do look just like mules.
    Interesting seeing the Amish horse and carriage too.
    Weavertown one room school is lovely, it would be great to see inside.
    It would make a good tourist attraction I'm sure.

    Wow they do look like mules, I like how they are all bunched up together. Bummer about the one room school house being closed, funny they still have the tourist welcome sign.

    Nice bunch of horses/mules. - They do look more like mules to me but they could be a combo of both.
    To bad you couldn't go in that old school. That would have been neat.

    Those horses do look like mules. I loved the pictures of them. i would have liked to have seen the inside of that old school too.I spotted an Amish like carriage in the one photo. I love your adventures~
