January 2015

We are expecting 2 feet of snow and blizzard like conditions today.
I am so lucky that I am able to bunker down and stay home.
I will probably make homemade chicken noodle soup
and grilled cheese...that's our snow storm food!

And it will be an awesome day to enjoy my feathered friends,
some crafting and cooking.

I love snow, how about you guys...
lover's or hater's?

  2. If it could be snowy and 70 degrees outside at the same time, I would *love* snow! As it is, I'm not too enthusiastic of a fan, but the chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese might change my mind and make me want to have storms more often!

Beautiful selection of bird photos today!

  3. Those birds are gorgeous, but that Northern Flicker is my favorite!! I don't seem them around me too often. Good luck with the snow - looks like we're in for a good one. Definitely comfort food time.

  4. I love the plump and roundness of the bird in your first shot contrasted to the straight linear branches. Quite exquisite.

  7. I am a lover of snow, although not so much on the roads, for fear of life as it goes so fast in horrible conditions. I worry now that my children have their own homes, but still leave on the light and use the phone to be assured they made it back safely. Comes with winter. Stay safe and buckle down to enjoy the white blankets adding up, it will end, the roads will clear it's safe again. I like your pick a branch, as they sure can't make up their mind, but they always offer you great moments to capture and you do!

  8. Debbie, the photos are just gorgeous! I feed those little critters every morning, although I haven't seen the Northern Flicker here in NW Wisconsin. We have flickers here, but I don't think we have that variety. I just realize that I had spelled it 'Flickr' at first. LOL

  9. I was watching the weather this morning and wondering if you would get that storm. I am glad you get to stay inside and enjoy being at home. I am very attached to our Northern Flicker. I am glad ours returned too. I think you got a really good shot.
Your other birds are great shots and I think of them all out there in the storm.
    Have a wonderful day.

  11. You have lots of different sorts of birds!!! I am glad that you are not going out in that storm!!! And I sure hope it stays in the States and avoids Canada!!

  12. I love the colors of the birds against the snowy backdrop! I like watching snow from inside -- it's like all of nature -- beautiful and treacherous, at times. I think you may get walloped with this storm -- they're saying Ocean County will take the brunt!

  13. Amazing images of these beautiful birds! I'm a snow lover. I live in Arkansas so we don't get a lot here. We get pretty excited when we just get a dusting! Stay warm and enjoy your snow days!

  14. Fabulous bird photos here. I really like that woodpecker shot. He's a beauty as they all are. You already know that I am not a snow lover. We in fact have had practically zero snow this winter (which is fine by me) but they are predicting a water shortage and a dry summer here which is bad.

  19. We too like snow, Debbie. It's one of the reasons (not the sole one) we have decided to relocate to New England from our native NJ and current VA home. We are also expecting blizzard conditions over the next 24-36 hours and like you will remain safe and warm indoors with a bunch of library films to watch. You have some beautiful bird captures!

  24. I am so jealous of your Flicker shot! All are beautiful and nicely posed. I love snow, but I've never had to shovel it. Be safe during this crazy storm that's coming!

  25. I love snow when I don't have to go out in it. We are having mild winter temperatures. We have only had one good snowstorm on Christmas and then a dusting of snow a couple of times. Be safe; it does look like you are going to be hit with quite the storm.
I really love all the different bird photos today. Some lovely ones to do graphics; which I want to get back too.
Oh, the chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese sounds so yummy. Perfect comfort foods!
    Blessings and hugs dear friend~

  26. Hi Debbie. I saw on the news about the big storm. Stay safe and warm! I like the snow and getting snowy photos, but I don't much like venturing too far out in it anymore.

  27. Great selection of winter birds. I just yesterday had a very similar winter meal to yours, only I'm not nearly good enough to have the soup homemade.

  28. We saw on tv about the huge snow storm predicted. Enjoy your lovely comfort food :D)
Pretty little birdie shots - most of them listened and stayed away from branches in front! Cheers now
