Safari in Sand

Peddlers Village in Bucks County, Pa. is a charming 18th century style shopping village.
Hosting gorgeous winding brick paths,
unique shops, indoor and outdoor dining, an Inn, a pond with fish and so much more.
It is a magical place that hosts many unique festivals and events.
We usually visit for these specific experiences, and for lunch or dinner, not to shop.
On Sunday we visited to see the Safari in Sand display, it did not disappoint.
We attended last years event and I think these sand sculptures were even better than last year.

- Herbivores of the Open Plains -

They provided a field guide with a map,
all of the sculptures were marked so you could be sure to see them all.
The guide also provide a type of scavenger hunt...6 specific animals that were hidden in the sculptures.
It was for the kiddos but of course we played along.

- The Big Five -

- This was not named and was the backside of The Big Five -

- Lioness Den -

- The Woodlands -

- These Monkeys were on the back of The Woodlands -

- Gorilla Sighting -

This was the hubs idea...he positioned my finger so it would appear I was picking the Gorillas nose.
...men...

- Rivers and Waterways -

- Predators and Carnivores -

- Wetlands and Rainforests -

- Ostrich Crossing -

This appears to be an Anteater
There was no sign and it was not on the map.

A few fun facts...
Over a two week span, 220 tons of sand was delivered here to create these landscapes of Africa.
Each large sculpture took approximately 125 hours to create.
Periodically, the sculptures are sprayed with a solution of water and wood glue.
The sculptures will be on display until the end of August subject to the elements of rain and wind.
They were completed on June 1st, we visited on June 8th.

These sand sculptures are always amazing to see, Debbie, and there’s a similar event here in NH each summer in Hampton Beach. I liked the theme of this one and your fun poses too.

I can't get over the skill of the artists who create sand sculptures. The sculptures are not only beautiful but realistic. And to think that after a few weeks they will turn back into loose sand. Debbie, thank you for letting me see your sand masterpieces.

Those sculptures are a lot of work. Glad you didn't get bit when you were petting them. Linda in Kansas

My friend Claire and I visited Peddler's Village today! We had lunch in Frescafe (which never disappoints) and then strolled around the Village admiring the Sand Sculptures! I agree with you, as much as I enjoyed them last year, this year they were spectacular!! Hugs!!

Wow they are awesome indeed, I wonder what they do with all that sand once they are done since it has wood glue with it. They surely do an awesome job.
I had to laugh about the one with you putting the finger in the monkeys nose, I have a feeling Greg would have done the same thing, LOL!
