Looking Forward To Fall...

My friend Leanne wrote a post yesterday about "Slowing Down", enjoying the little things in life.
Her post is very poignant if you have time to read it.
She wrote that as she is getting older she does not love the summer like she did when she was younger
and neither do I.
Her post inspired me to write about it here as I try so hard to love the summer.
I love to be outdoors, to visit gardens, festivals, car shows, craft shows...the list is endless.
But the heat and large crowds here at the shore take all of the enjoyment away.

I am looking forward to fall and winter...
I get couch and movie time, knitting time and time to do all the things I love doing at home.

We did a lot...
there is a lot we did not do, and I am fine with that!

  2. Ironically, I love summer most because it has no crowds (unless I seek them out, which s rare) and is so relaxing. I dread the return to schedule! Even though this summer hasn't been a happy or healthy one, I wish it could continue much longer!

  4. While reading blogs, I somehow accidentally clicked don yours and I love it!!! I have felt the same way about summer that you do. It can be harder now that I am old, because I cannot do any of the activities. I love your bucket list and it looks like you already did quite a few!

  6. Same here! I am a cool weather girl. Right now I am spending my days strictly indoors catching up on projects.

  7. I have enjoyed the summer not the heat or the crowds. We live in a resort area July you could barely get through town. august rolled around and the people had thinned out a bit. Yesterday i went to town and it was like a regular day. Once school starts it thins out.

  8. Hello Debbie,
This summer seems to be extremely hot compared to last summer. I do not enjoy outings on those hot humid summer days. So yes, I am looking forward to fall. You did a lot on your list! Take care, enjoy your day!

  9. You did a lot and in that heat! More than I did for sure. Fall is a lovely time!

  10. Your reflection on the changing seasons and how they affect our enjoyment of life really resonates with me. It’s interesting how our preferences shift as we get older—fall and winter bring such a cozy, comforting vibe that summer sometimes lacks. I love how you find joy in the quieter moments, like knitting and movie time. It’s a great reminder that it’s okay not to do everything and just savor the simple pleasures.

Hey there! 🌟 I enjoyed reading your post. By the way, I recently wrote about how many senior citizens still follow outdated aspirin advice. Check it out here: https://www.melodyjacob.com/2024/08/many-senior-citizens-still-follow-outdated-aspirin-advice.html. Would love to hear your thoughts!

  12. Debbie, you DO do a lot... much more than us. If we get out twice a week to either grocery shop or walk, that's good for us. Of course this summer we've been inundated with company... which has been fun (and probably good for us), but I'm looking forward to Fall and some relief from this heat. (IMO summers shouldn't be spent in Texas - but the heat has been a problem in so many places this summer.)

  13. I am so the same, can't take the heat, I feel like I am going to pass out and have no energy. Don't care for the big crowds either. Even though we were in the high 90's today, I bought my first caramel apple and that gets me excited for fall

  14. You have so many good things to look forward to in the fall! Great idea to make a bucket list. I'm sure we will be reading about your adventures. Looking forward to it.

  15. There’s still time to complete some of those bucket list items in the cooler fall months, which is also my favorite time of year. As a NJ native, I understand about shite traffic in summer months.
