Saturday Critters #554

The hubs and I took several random drives in the car this past week.
Longer than usual, further from home than usual,
searching for great wildlife living here at this time of year.

Osprey come in spring.
They are very large, distinctively shaped hawks.
They are also known as sea hawks, river hawks and fish hawks.

I stumbled upon this family of swans
swimming across the lake from the small island it appeared they may have nested on.

7 in total, there were 5 young swans, which is a large number to have survived in the wild.
2 had turned white, 3 were still sporting their beige color.

They immediately swam over to me, perhaps thinking I had food...
they were friendly, stayed for a few pictures and then swam off, I did not feed them.

  1. Hello Debbie,
Your Osprey photos are awesome, wonderful series.
The swans must be used to people feeding them, it is a large family. I am glad they are all doing well. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
