Saturday Critters #513

I was a little surprised to see three Great Egrets out in the open at Lake of the Lilies on Friday.
The first one, fishing at the water's edge, really stood out against the pretty blue water.
The second, seemed to have better luck standing right in the water,
using its dagger like bill to capture its prey.
Prey include fish and the occasional aquatic mammal or bird.
Sexes are similar,
this stately, pure white, heron like bird has a yellow beak, and long, dark black legs.

This one thought it was hiding but I saw it right away.

There were so many turtles, out in the open, sunning themselves on rocks or branches.

This is a spot I often see the turtles in, they are way off in the distance.

Our weather has been amazing this week and I was so grateful to get outside a couple of days.
Have you been out, for a walk this week, or to enjoy the outdoors?
