Saturday's Critters #434

The Mute Swans have returned to the area where they build their nest every year,
I was so happy to see them.
Beginning April - June the female starts laying eggs, often before the nest is even completed.
Eggs are laid every other day until the clutch is complete.
The average clutch consists of 1 - 11 eggs, that are initially blue/green,
then turn white and eventually brown.

I watched as she added to and fluffed the nest.

There were several pretty Mallards there also...

  9. Oh so pretty, so neat to see her in her nest, wow I didn't know that they laid eggs over days like that, that must be why some take longer than others.
