Ardena School No. 2 built in 1855
The hubs remembers seeing it moved here to this spot in 1971 as he went by on the school bus.
He grew up here in Howell Township were the school is now located.

The Caboose from the 1888 train has been restored beautifully.
I found these pictures on line,
and have made it my mission to find this area and train that have been restored with so much care.
- history is not a burden on the memory, but an illumination of the soul -
Hello,
ReplyDeleteThe historical buildings are neat, I like the caboose. Take care, enjoy your day and week ahead.
Oh my.. sounds so interesting. Hope you get a chance to visit the train. Do they offer train rides?
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful area to have a stroll around by the look of it.
ReplyDeleteOh what a cute schoolhouse! Are there ever any tours inside-- that would be neat
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to explore the history of your own area! Lots of people know more about places where they've traveled than they do about their own. Good for you for taking time to learn and find these places.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy those sorts of historical things.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful day to visit this school, so neat that the are preserving this building. That would be great to find that train, good luck, maybe you can even go for a ride :)
ReplyDeleteThe schoolhouse is in fantastic shape for being that old! They did some great work on the caboose!
ReplyDeleteSuper fabulous little school. I bet that was a site for your hubs to see moved to that location. Wonderful restored little train caboose too.
