Saturday's Critters # 399

The Great Blue Heron
My favorite of the large birds,
the Great Blue Heron has long legs, a long neck and a huge dagger like bill.
This bird generally hangs out in the shallow end of it's favorite lake or wetlands
where it is easy to fish and find food.
Sexes are similar and we see this bird here at the Jersey Shore year round.

stand for something - even if it means standing alone,
often times the one who flies solo, has the strongest wings

  5. The water looks really inviting here :) Great pictures!! We enjoyed watching herons when we lived in the San Diego area and walked our first corgi down by the ocean. Their nests up in the trees were quite noisy with the baby herons :)
