Saturday Critters ~ 362 ~

Yesterday, I spent a little time at the office window, "talking" to the birds.
I have the window open when I take these pictures,
and keep my fingers crossed that no one flies inside the house.
I took a lot of pictures but only some are worth sharing.

I love my Blue Jays
They are friendly, they pose for pictures and they alert other birds when a Hawk is present.

They get a bad rap for being so loud but it is their alert to other birds that make them loud.

They are mainly blue and unmistakeable, beautiful when their crest is up!

Mourning Dove

The Male House Finch
This is a very common bird at the feeders, they are very easy to photograph.

The Female House Finch
Also very common at the feeders, they are also very easy to photograph.

Chickadee

  1. Fantastic! You have an excellent place to photograph them. Have you ever heard your jays mimic a hawk? Ours will do it sometimes to scare the other birds off the feeders. LOL!

  10. I love the pretty birds that come to the feeders! We don't see Blue Jays very often but we are seeing a lot of house finches and chickadees right now. And guess what....there's a big ole hawk sitting on the roof of the house across the street right over the bird feeder. Where's a Blue Jay when you need one! heehee!

  11. I was about to say what Brian said, Debbie...LOL!! The Jays here are very pushy and chase off my little ones like the sparrows, finches, nuthatch, and chickadees. Beautiful photos! You must have a very long/strong lens!!...:)jp

  12. Once again I am blown away by the detail in your pics! They are wonderful.
I think you are right about the juvenile Coopers Hawk as there are adults in the area during the summer.

  18. These photos are just phenomenal! I have just purchased a Canon Rebel t7i/800D camera and am trying to learn how to use it. Do you mind sharing what kind of camera you use, and what settings you use for your bird photos. 99% of my photos are of the birds. :D I am a nature lover. Thanks for sharing these with us.

  21. One can always tell when a blue jay is in the neighborhood. They even squawk to let me know if the feeder is low on seed :) Beautiful photos.
