Sleeping On The Suet

I wasn't quite sure who was sleeping on the suet?
A big puffball, light in color.
Who was it protecting their food...and keeping the Grackles off.
Sound asleep, even the swaying of the suet cage did not wake it up.

A little crack of its eye here...

up it popped, and it is clearly a beautiful Bluejay.

It had certainly picked the perfect spot for a nap...

it feasted, sunned itself and finally flew off!

  1. LOL, I have never seen a blue jay sleeping like that. I guess it was protecting his/her food source. Great series.
    Wishing you a happy day!

  5. This is adorable, you truly can't tell what he is....until he wakes up, ha ha LOL!! We bought suet for the bluejays, not sure if we bought the right thing, do you know what they like? I'm trying to keep the bigger birds in the back of the house and the small birds in the front, so the bigger ones don't attack or scare the tiny ones.......

  16. Oh wow I don't think I have ever seen a bird all tucked like that on a suet feeder before, have seen them in a tree like that though. He decided it was a nice space to take a nap and have a snack when he warmed up in the sun :)
