If you put out peanuts, they will come!

Tufted Titmouse

A tiny, gray, song bird familiar to my feeders. 

They have a pretty crest, a black forehead and small peach spots on the side, under the wings.

They love peanuts and because they are so small, 

I am always amazed at how they handle the peanuts.

It has a peter, peter whistle/song during spring and summer!

Male Red Bellied Woodpecker

Widespread and familiar woodpecker seen in parks and gardens.

I see this woodpecker year round, but it comes in closer in winter when food is harder to find.

It's most distinct feature is it's bright red head, it does have a splash of red on it's belly.

His call is very distinct to me, chu-urr, chu-urr, chu-urr,

I always hear him before I see him.

European Starling

This bird comes in large numbers and eats all of the suet.

They are loud and accomplished in mimicking the songs and calls of other birds.

They walk with a bit of swagger and northern populations move south for the winter.

And of course the Blue Jay who eats most of the peanuts!

The Blue Jay is a familiar, unmistakable bird, mostly blue with a very distinct crest.

They are a beautiful, 

primarily blue bird that I enjoy seeing at my feeders and on the deck rail.

I enjoy watching them shake the peanuts, to be sure they have chosen the biggest one,

that has the most peanuts.

Their song can be loud, I sometimes believe they are alerting song birds of raptors in the area.

They are very easy to watch and photograph!
