Sparrows are everywhere in Washington, D.C.,
I was hoping to see the "Lincoln Sparrow" in "Washington", but no such luck.
Pictured here are House Sparrows also called English Sparrows.
This is a very common Sparrow seen in just about any urban area or park.

They are sweet, little birds, their feather pattern is gorgeous.
They don't get much attention, perhaps because they are brown!
They have a pleasant "chirup, chireep, chirup, song, they are always busy and so fun to watch.

These Sparrows are in nearly every country of the world and I still admire them Debbie.
ReplyDeleteMany people find them annoying. For me, that is not the case. Great pix, Debbie...:)jp
ReplyDeleteThey didn't seem to mind being photographed...probably used to that sort of thing! Tourists! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love the way those little birds puff up in the cold. Sparrows are wonderful creatures. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen house sparrows though.
ReplyDeleteSparrows and redbreasts pecking also on the terrace outside French windows from my kitchen. Toulouse, France.
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie for these pics. Merry Christmas writing.

ReplyDeleteHello Debbie, wonderful series of Sparrows photos. I've been seeing one in my yard, it is not Often they show up here. They like the city or nearby town. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank for visit and commenting on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI will admit they have pretty feather details.I can't say I like to have them around, as they make a huge mess and take over with their abundant numbers.
ReplyDeleteWhat cuties, such sweet little birds.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Common, but very pretty birds.
ReplyDeletethis is the most birds we have in our yard, they hang out in our pine trees :) They do have all kinds of patterns that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteVery nice shots. They are pretty birds, anyway!
ReplyDeleteYour photo after photo of this sweet little bird are lovely. I must admit I have never been blown away by the sparrow's brown colouring but you have changed my mind. The patterns on those feathers are intricate, aren't they.
ReplyDeleteI love sparrows! The ones in my neighborhood, chiefly the pair who call my yard home, are a little slow. They nest in the oddest places.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos, especially the first Debbie.
ReplyDeletethis year i sort of packed my planters more with pansies .. usually i give them more room ... some did better than others ... they are on my deck ... but maybe some get more sun or rain? wind? but they sure are pretty throughout the winter. so happy. i really enjoy the purple ones my favorite color. similar to u.
