As if riding your bike on the boardwalk, along the ocean
was not thrilling enough, the hubs spotted a
Red Tailed Hawk
on one of the light posts, right above us.
I liked this image, showing off the talons.
Like all Hawks, the talons are it's main weapon.
The Red Tailed Hawk is an extremely large bird of prey.
These hawks have variable plumage,
most have rounded wings and a short, wide, red tail...feather patterns can be different.
They are very common in this area!

Hello, Debbie! Awesome captures of the Hawk. Love the pretty blue sky too. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful raptor and you have captured it well, Debbie. Often they fly off the moment you raise the camera having developed a healthy caution when humans are present.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! The details are fantastic! It has a very intent look.
ReplyDeleteThey are so spectacular
ReplyDeleteWhat a majestic raptor!
ReplyDeleteI see them in the sky above the boardwalk. The small animals disappear when the jays send out the alarm that the hawks are hunting.
ReplyDeleteYour zoom works like magic!
ReplyDeleteVery cool, some great pics, my hubby loves that I too am always on the look out for things and see things he has missed :) I think ever since he took up taking pictures we see things in a whole new light :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Gorgeous shots. That blue sky is such a perfect backdrop for this beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely great shots of the Red Tailed Hawk :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday and Happy Weekend wishes
All the best Jan
Stunning pictures Debbie!
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous to spot this gorgeous creature whilst out and about. You are a blessed lady, Debbie!
ReplyDeleteHawks are my fave, I love spotting them but never can get a good photo like these!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because I take these little quizzes to keep my mind sharp. Just a couple of days ago, I was to guess what the bird was in the photo. I didn't know. Now I know since you posted photos of it here. I didn't think it was a Hawk at all.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs!
