I have been seeing so many Male Northern Cardinals around the homestead these days...
in the back yard...
in the front yard...
and more in the back yard!
The Male Cardinal is probably the most recognizable bird with it's erectile peaked crest,
long tail, and stunning colorful plumage.
The adult male is mostly bright red, except for it's well defined black face.
It's bill is bright red.
I see Northern Cardinals year round at my feeders,
both males and females...they are easy to observe and photograph.

Beautiful photos! With nesting season the birds are all kinda crazy!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have them here but I have seen them different places we have traveled and their color is magnificent!
ReplyDeleteWe see them only sometimes here in Florida (not regularly like you do)....I’ll never forget how excited I was to see our first one when we were traveling. (None in the Pacific Northwest).
ReplyDeleteDidn’t realize they had such long tails. I’d love to see one on my travels!
ReplyDeleteHello Debbie, Your Cardinal is beautiful. They do stand out with their bright red color. Lovely series of photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thanks for leaving me a comment.

One of my favorite birds. Wonderful pics!
ReplyDeleteI like how the crest can go flat, or when they puff themselves up! Love the 3rd and 4th pictures.
ReplyDeleteHope your enjoying a nice weekend, we are going to have rain tomorrow but today was fantastic!!
I am sorry to say I'm jealous. I was a Harrold Cardinal in high school, but never saw a cardinal until I met my husband, who is from Minnesota. We don't have them here. I wish we did. Thank you for sharing your birds.
ReplyDeleteWhat a luscious coloured fellow your little visitor is. Gosh his plumage is beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI hardly ever see cardinals - but wish I did. I love that splash of red. You have such beautiful shots!
