The media keeps taking about it, the weather-people go crazy...
A winter storm warning is issued and the governor declares a state of emergency, twice.
School is cancelled or they announce a delayed opening due to snow.
But all we get is a "sprinkle" of the white stuff.
Just enough to bring the birds to the feeders and give them a pretty dusting of the white stuff.

I can only imagine the outcry if your authorities didn't "overreact" to forecasts of snow and you really got a dump. Great series of bird pictures, Debbie. I am impressed. I suspect that some of your readers might not be able to identify all of them so it would be better to show their names.

ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take much for beautiful photos! Love the sparrow! Looking back I think I should have been a meteorologist. You really only need to be right about half the time. The other half is a guess. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt makes the birds look all sparkly though! We got up this morning to a change in weather and I declared it a Florida snow day....the temp dipped below 70 and we have a misty rain! We'll HAVE to stay INSIDE! heeheehee! Hugs!

In my town, any time there is a hint of snow, every loaf of bread and gallon of milk flies off the shelves. I suppose it's the people who live out of town and on the ridges who get trapped at home for so long they need stockpiles of the staples. (Ironically, they always forget to buy up all the toilet paper...)

We have neighborhood mockingbirds, one in the day and one at night. I love to hear their different bird calls. But, I've never seen one ... thanks for sharing the photo! (I always thought they looked more like a crow; boy, was I wrong.)

Lovely pictures. I have to smile when I read or hear about some of the more southern folks closing school before it even snows. We don't get excited unless it is a raging blizzard or a foot of snow or more. Grant it would would never go out all winter if we couldn't put up with snow and cold.

ReplyDeleteYes the weather people do tend to go crazy whenever there is snow or bad weather forecasted to come. But it still surprises me how many accidents there are, even if we just get a few inches of snow.

ReplyDeleteLOL on this one because we have a weather man that wears a white coat when it is going to snow and then it doesn’t. I would think with all the sophisticated weather equipment, they could get it right. I must admit they do sometimes. It is funny that they get so prepared and then it doesn’t snow.

ReplyDeleteWe got about a foot. Even so - much overreacting! All the news spoke about was the “impact “ weather day. Where did that term even come from? I live in New England- it’s not as though we aren’t used to snow!
