Puffed Up...Trying to Stay Warm

I didn't know what kind of bird it was, sitting atop the suet.
I tapped on the window and it didn't budge...

I didn't want to chase it off, I just wanted to know who had selected such an odd spot for a nap.

One eye open only slightly, the tapping had arose it's curiosity, but only a little...

as the beak popped out, I knew it was a Blue Jay

The suet is under the overhang of the house, protected from these fierce winds.

Smart bird, a nap...

a meal,

and protection from the wind!

This Blue Jay was quite content and happy, staying for quite a while before flying off!

  5. I bet he was guarding the food too. Poor thing, I couldn't tell either until he finally moved. Great shots Debbie.

  7. I love how all the pretty birds keep visiting your home. It must get around the bird kingdom that there is a lovely lady who leaves food for them and takes amazing photos of them in all their glory and shows the world. Yep.....I guess they rather love your place.

  16. I’m wondering if your blue jays are used to seeing you around. The ones at my feeder will fly away if they see even the slightest movement inside my house!!! Quite a smart blue jay you have!
