Every so often, I need to see the ocean.
I need to hear the waves crash against the shore, and the seagulls screeching,
to breathe in the salt air...
and feel the kind of breeze that only the ocean can simulate.
I always close my eyes, I want to feel it first...a sense of calm comes over me,
it becomes quiet, even gentle and I know exactly where I am.
I am where I am suppose to be.
We didn't walk on the beach, I just took a few pictures and we left.
It was so pretty, the colors in the water were crisp and clear, a light shade of green...
the sky was a beautiful shade of blue.
There was one surfer out, trying to catch a wave.
Howe Street Beach, where some kind soul decorates the area for each season and holiday!
Soon, it will be decorated for Valentines Day!

It doesn’t look like the winter beaches I am familiar with. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour beautifully written thoughts and reflections on the beach caused me to imagine sitting on a beach, and seeing and feeling what you feel. I too love to sit on the beach and be swept away by all that 'fabulousness' that only the seaside can give. How glorious your photos are. Why, I would almost believe they are Summer scenes.......if I didn't know you are in the depths of Winter.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenes and so different from what I see outside my house. It has been snowing hard all day.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you -- I get the same feelings about the ocean and beach. Unfortunately, I haven't been to the ocean and beach since 2000 when I lived in FL (no ocean, beach and seagulls in AZ). Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYes I know what you mean and I am fortunate enough to live by the sea/beach. Beautiful images
ReplyDeleteIt's great to walk on such sunny days :)
ReplyDeleteA nice corner of the world...
ReplyDeleteLove these pictures....the water sure was a GORGEOUS color that day!! Hope you had a real nice weekend!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! And practically empty which is how I would like it!
ReplyDeleteThe boys and I took a ride up to Ocean Grove yesterday. We were going to walk the boardwalk but about 25 feet into the walk we decided it was way too cold and windy!! But I'm glad I saw the ocean for a bit.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful beach! It’s hard to find a peaceful one here in Florida, but a visit to Oregon Coast makes me feel exactly as you describe.
ReplyDeleteI love your thoughts and I love your photographs.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
There is a real 'pull' towards the ocean isn't there. It's all that lovely fresh air (and cold where you are ;D)).
ReplyDeleteHow lovely your beach is and I think that's charming how that kind person decorates the seating area
Beautifully said! I could feel the ocean breeze and hear the waves. I know exactly what you mean.
