Saturday Critters ~ 222 ~

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Howe Street Beach...

the dolphins we sometimes see here...

and the Sea Gulls!

You may remember the story of Howe Street Beach in Bay Head.
There is an unknown soul who decorates this beach entrance every holiday.
He or she has been doing it for years.
I only recently discovered it, this past Valentines Day.
I am excited to see how the area is decorated for upcoming holidays.

  3. Unknown soul? No one sees them?
Do they decorate in the middle of the night?

    1. the person is unknown to me and other people who visit this beach. i have asked several people when i am there and they all say the same thing "no one knows who does it"!! - so no one has bumped in to anyone who knows. the homes surrounding this area are summer homes, right now, no one is living in them. i am sure many people know who does it, but just as many don't and enjoy talking about the fun mystery. i don't think they decorate in the middle of the night!!

  5. Love the decorations! The Gull looks like it is thinking of stealing food from someone instead of fishing for it himself
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. Hello Debbie!:) Happy St Patricks day! How mysterious! One thing is certain, he or she is of Irish descent, is artistic, and a sharer, and is possibly shy,:) or I don't think they would make the effort to make these symbolic decorations for the community to enjoy every year. It's a nice touch, and i have enjoyed seeing your photos and knowing about it. Nice Gull capture too!

  18. It is always amazing to me that St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by people the world over, even those who have not the slightest connection with the Irish. In Waterloo, ON where I live it seems to be just an excuse for university students to flood the streets and get drunk!

  19. How nice! The gull looks less than impressed with the decorating, though. Beautiful photo!

  22. That is the coolest story in the world! I love how somebody is doing this not expecting any glory or thanks -- just doing it for the love of the beach and the people who come there. Please do post it every Holiday -- can't wait to see how they do it.
