Flying History!!

We were so lucky to have these WWII bombers at a local airport last week.
This show is amazing, the airport is only 10 minutes from home...
what an honor it is to have these planes visit the Jersey Shore every year.

First up, the B-17 Flying Fortress

This sign features more information on the plane you just viewed,
for those who may be interested.

Next up - The B-24J Liberator - Witchcraft

This sign features more information on the Witchcraft,
for those who may be interested.

This Tf-51D Mustang was out when we got there and so we were able to watch it land and come in.
Someone on a private/paid for flight.

And a few more details on the TF-51D Mustang, if you are interested.

And a big thank you to the kind gentleman who took this picture for us.
A nice picture at an event we enjoy every year!!

I would also like to share one closing thought as I wrap up this very long post.
It is one thing to learn history from a book,
and something entirely different to learn about it at an event like this.
I was privileged to meet and speak with a WWII veteran on this day,
something I will never forget!

  2. I am looking at that painted slogan out of the corner of my eye, "Experience WWII." Um, thanks, no. ;) That's what they came up with? Ha ha.

    1. I think they mean..... Experience, in a tiny, tiny way..... What brave military, did, during WWII, to insure our Freedom.

Looking at that 'saying', in this way, makes it a wonderful thing to do. To almost feel the courage and heroism of all those men, who flew those missions. Even though, being human, they had to be scared to death. For myself, I swell with Pride, looking at these amazing flying machines.

      Just sayin'......

      Gentle hugs,

  13. There are so few of those Veterans left.... I had an Uncle who served as a tailgunner and was injured in that War. He married a nurse he met while in hospital. My Dad was in the Navy and I am old enough to have very vague memories of war talk while he was 'away' serving. We would have enjoyed seeing this event.
