We Snuck Away...

It was last minute and spontaneous...because we are fun like that.
We snuck away for a few days...

we went here, to
Historic Mystic Connecticut

Oldest son Scott use to live in Connecticut, so we would visit here often.
Only about 3 hours from home, it is a nice, familiar place
to getaway for a few days.

Mystic Seaport is an outdoor museum for it's many ships and exhibits
and is home to a working shipyard used for the
preservation and restoration of older vessels.

The Brant Point Lighthouse

The Charles W. Morgan

The Shipyard Village

Nautical Instruments Shop

Schooner L.A. Dunton

The Boathouse

The First Fire Truck

The Working Shipyard

Under this tent...

The Mayflower II
Built in 1955 in England, it is here for restoration.
The restoration will take about 2 years.

And I'm sure you were wondering if there were going to be some selfies...
- well, yes, of course there are -
we brought the tripod and here's what we got!

Brant Point Lighthouse.

The weather was perfect for this short getaway.
Today it was 65 degrees, blue skies with some pretty fair weather clouds.

Of course there is more...
stay tuned...

  4. What a fascinating place to visit. I don't know what it is about ships and lighthouses, but they make my heart sing. I rarely get to view either one, so I absolutely love your tour today! You two are so good at selfies!!

  7. Loved the visit! Amber and I were there in the late 1990's after a swim meet in Maryland. I bought a book at one of the bookstores there about sea captains and their wives - some actually traveled with their husbands.
You guys are always doing something cool!

  8. Perfect time to go there! Before it becomes overrun with tourists!!!!

Oh I love that dragon bow art!!!!!

We were there, years ago, when the kids were little.

Youngest son was probably about 3. He didn't want to go on a ship, and was crying-his-bloody-head-off! We didn't know why!!!! Later we found out, he thought it was filled with pirates and they were going to carry him away.

Oh mercy, what a memory. -grin-

So lovely that you had this spontaneous holiday.

Lots of gentle hugs, Luna Crone

  16. Are you wearing Flip-Flops? You need a better support shoe, Missy!! I know. Your feet get hot--at least wear a slip-on Topsider, better protection and support. Hurmpf!!
Well, you're both adorable and in love, that is obvious and having as much fun as possible in your life. So neat you can get-away whenever you want to. I love that about you!
