Historic Mystic Connecticut
Oldest son Scott use to live in Connecticut, so we would visit here often.
Only about 3 hours from home, it is a nice, familiar place
to getaway for a few days.
Mystic Seaport is an outdoor museum for it's many ships and exhibits
and is home to a working shipyard used for the
preservation and restoration of older vessels.

Built in 1955 in England, it is here for restoration.
The restoration will take about 2 years.

Today it was 65 degrees, blue skies with some pretty fair weather clouds.

ReplyDeleteLoved the visit! Amber and I were there in the late 1990's after a swim meet in Maryland. I bought a book at one of the bookstores there about sea captains and their wives - some actually traveled with their husbands.

We were there, years ago, when the kids were little.
Youngest son was probably about 3. He didn't want to go on a ship, and was crying-his-bloody-head-off! We didn't know why!!!! Later we found out, he thought it was filled with pirates and they were going to carry him away.
Oh mercy, what a memory. -grin-
