Saturday Critters ~ 162 ~

My bird feeders went dry - and that rarely happens.
They were empty for a few days because - quite frankly - I am lazy.
I mentioned it several times to the hubs hoping he would fill them,
it didn't happen.
Chuck finally filled them and the birds usually come right back, but they didn't.
It was quiet all day yesterday and today.
Late in the day today I heard a constant chirping, coming from the tree
and it sounded different.
I checked at the window and it was a Male Downey Woodpecker,
in a good spot for pictures.
I switched off the light, had to change lens, of course, open the window,
I was sure he would take off but he didn't.
It seemed maybe he was hurt,
because with all the noise and ruckus I made, he never flew off.
He posed for his pictures, like it was inevitable and he did not have a choice.

After about 20 minutes and 31 pictures he finally flew off.

  7. Hello Debbie!:) I LOVE your images of the male Downey Woodpecker, especially the first and second shots. He has a lovely face, and posed so nicely for you. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Debbie, and wish you and yours all the best this year. We haven't been too good, and I'm not back blogging yet, but I just wanted to say hello, and could not resist a visit when I saw your photo of the Downey.

  11. Heh heh, sounds like your birds were sulking at not having their feeders constantly topped up!
I really loved all the photos of your Woodpecker and, yes, it was as if he was purposely posing... this way and that... oh and don't forget my cute little red on the back of my head lady!
    Delightful :D)

  17. You just have a way with these birds, they love to pose for you, such great shots, we had the same type bird come to our suet feeder yesterday, it was too funny cause I told Greg, if Debbie was here she probably could tell us what kind of bird that is..... Greg said well I am going to guess a woodpecker because of his beak and the way he is pecking at the suet, guess he was right :) Love how you got so many angles.
