Egg in a Basket

Have you ever made this?
It's super simple, just an egg and bread, but somehow as a whole,
it tasted better.
Use butter to toast the bread in the fry pan,
because - butter makes everything better, right?

I used a glass to cut the circular hole in the bread,
can you believe I don't have a round cookie cutter, the glass worked just fine.

- All Done -
The bread toasted this way was delicious and
it's nice that the toast and egg are "done" at the same time.
No one gets cold waiting - if you know what I mean.
The yolk was runny and my bacon was crisp.
I think I am going to make this again tomorrow, with the addition of hash browns!

If you think you may need a recipe, the recipe is here, I didn't use one.

    1. Yes, you treat the bread like grilled cheese bread, but obviously there's only one slice. it toasts up so nicely, and it's all warm as it comes out of the fry pan. usually my toast is cold or not ready yet!

  3. My good friend has a son with special needs, and he is so excited when his Mom makes him 'egg in a basket'! That is where I first heard of this. My gk's love french toast and will eat as long as I keep the toast coming!

  14. You brought back memories of our camping days Debbie. The first tag-along trip we did in our 4WD in central Australia. The cook there made them for our brekkies. 30 at a time she had going on the campfire plate! A sight to behold. Yours looks a touch more elegant though. A lovely post, thank you... mmmm-yum, wonder what we'll be having this morning ;D)

  19. That looks worth trying. One of our favourites is eggs on toast. Eggs in toast might be just as good.

  23. Sadly, when I was sick, hubby kept wanting to dash out and buy me an egg/bacon sandwich. He was so eager to help me as I coughed my guts out, I couldn't say no. I'm not regretting it this week, but watching my calories!!!! I wasn't getting outdoors as I used to.
