Walking around the yard recently, camera in hand, not too much is blooming.
I have a lot of knockout roses that are looking pretty shabby
because I have not been pruning or deadheading them.
The daylilies look about the same.
I have an immense love/hate relationship with my daylilies
and this is about the time of summer where the hate part of that relationship kicks in.
One show stopper in the yard right now are the
Rose of Sharon

Hi Debbie!:) There are three show stoppers here:) the rose, the bee, and your fantastic photos of him taking a bath in pollen, and this pretty Rose of Sharon will be blooming somewhere else next year for someone else to enjoy. Really superb shots Debbie.:)

ReplyDeleteThese shots are INCREDIBLE!!!! I love watching these guys do their work - the whole bee/pollen thing fascinates me. That last shot where he's just covered amazes me - I often wonder what they do with it ... and have this image in my head of them landing somewhere and shaking like a dog that just got out of the water. I know. I'm so scientific!

ME TOO!! And the same goes for my hosta. I actually just cut down all the hosta stalks this weekend.
Your Rose of Sharon is just beautiful, Debbie. Ours has not bloomed yet, but when it does, it is usually really beautiful.
