The Pollinator

Walking around the yard recently, camera in hand, not too much is blooming.
I have a lot of knockout roses that are looking pretty shabby
because I have not been pruning or deadheading them.
The daylilies look about the same.
I have an immense love/hate relationship with my daylilies
and this is about the time of summer where the hate part of that relationship kicks in.

One show stopper in the yard right now are the
Rose of Sharon

When the flower blooms, the bees come uninvited!!

  6. Hello, the deer always eat our dayliles. They do not last long. It is good to keep the bees happy. Lovely images, Debbie! Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

  9. These shots are INCREDIBLE!!!! I love watching these guys do their work - the whole bee/pollen thing fascinates me. That last shot where he's just covered amazes me - I often wonder what they do with it ... and have this image in my head of them landing somewhere and shaking like a dog that just got out of the water. I know. I'm so scientific!

ME TOO!! And the same goes for my hosta. I actually just cut down all the hosta stalks this weekend.
Your Rose of Sharon is just beautiful, Debbie. Ours has not bloomed yet, but when it does, it is usually really beautiful.
